On a le béguin pour @danse-musique-rhone-alpes
No Beat-match, no problems. Ce mix a été enregistré en direct et réalisé de manière intuitive, en utilisant différents types de supports, (vinyl, cassette, digital), avec des vrais morceaux d'accidents à l'intérieur.
Stylistiquement, c'est proche d'une séance d'aérobic pendant laquelle on mangerait des pâtisseries, il y a peu de souplesse, pas d'endurance, une attention limitée, mais beaucoup d'amour, et une volonté de fer.

Intelligent electronic music, Idiotic straight-to-the-point techno bang, Ambient, distorted pop-Trap.

Il y a quelques mois, on vous conseillait d’aller voir Danse Musique Rhône-Alpes (@danse-musique-rhone-alpes) à la Positive Education. Aujourd’hui, vous pouvez découvrir son attrait pour la musique électronique dédiée aux percussions. 

En live, dans ses productions, ou dans ses sélections, les répétitions qui se basent donc sur des glitchs, erreurs, ou encore fausses notes qui agrémentent volontairement les percussions qui se retrouvent dans le live, son domaine de recherche. Rien n’est finalité, tout n’est qu’analyse de matière et expérimentation radicale. Danse Musique Rhône-Alpes a un passif de plasticien, qui le rend bricoleur, jusqu’à la création de ses propres instruments : il élabore une batterie liée à des synthétiseurs pour contrôler les rythmes d’une percussion. Il y a donc du contrôle dans le hasard ; une réflexion pour générer la surprise et l’éveil de l’audience.

Don’t DJ breaks rules. He takes risks. He goes with his heart and not his head. The music he makes is littered with odd sound sources, from oversized flutes to the sound of crushed plastic cups to frog noises, and his rhythms are always complex and challenging. He releases it on Fullfridge Music, Berceuse Heroique, and also runs his own Disk and is a master of fusing different sound worlds into compelling new forms. 

And that’s the case on the podcast he’s done for us. “I got drunk and recorded an all over the place old time favourites mix. it’s cursed,” he says. That means it’s a raw, instinctive selection with the mistakes left in and plenty of tough riding transitions that make it all the more thrilling. It’s exactly the kind of approach you would expect from the man: who else could squeeze in the likes of MC Hammer, Neneh Cherry, Frak and DJ Sotofett and still make it work? This is truly the work of a standalone DJ.

New mix by Phillip Jondo is up!
Phillip is a resident of Salon des Amateurs and have his monthly show on NTS Radio in London called We R All Egyptians. Jondo approaches DJing with a global perspective on club music’s unconventional niches and pathways. His selections run the gamut from percussion-heavy slow jams up to 140bpm booty bass – experimental but always with an ear tuned to the needs of the dancefloor. Together with Simon Weins , Phillip formed the group Garland, who released their debut LP Preludes #1 –a loose rhythmic offering chock-full of otherworldly magic– in 2018 via Lullabies for Insomniacs.
