“The purpose of the ‘Hadrah Basaudan’, which we just recited and other gatherings alike, of remembering Allah swt is to be with Allah swt and to be present with Him. Why the Salafussoleh hold such gatherings is to draw nearness to Allah swt and for their hearts to always be with Allah swt. The greatest form of ‘Hadrah’ i.e to be present with Allah swt is the Solat. The Righteous would constantly ensure that their hearts are present with Allah swt. The people of this Age especially, if you want your hearts to be present with Allah swt, then present yourselves at such gatherings. Because such gatherings, even the angels are present, they will seat amongst you and they would make du’a for you. This is based on the hadith, Abu Said Al-Khudri and Abu Hurayra reported that the Prophet (saw) said, “When any group of men remembers Allah, angels surround them and mercy covers them, tranquility descends upon them, and Allah mentions them to those who are with Him.” (Muslim, Tirmidhi, Ahmad). And because the Angels are with us, for sure, our du’as and deeds will be accepted by Allah swt.” – Habib Khadhim Al-Saqqaf 

Habib also emphasized that places which are clean and places which dedicated for the remembrance of Allah swt will be visited by the angels, and the angels will make du’a for the people present and so on. However, if places are dirty or ‘impure’ in nature, places of vices, the angels will not be near these places. Thus, it is obvious now which types of places we ought to frequent to. It’s not just places but ourselves. Habib stressed that we need to cleanse and beautify ourselves and be clean by wearing clean clothes, applying perfume and always be in the state of ablution. The more neat and clean we are, the more the Angels will want to be with us, accompany us, sit with us and be closer to us.

Habib said that having the company of angels and the angels making du’a for you is a huge blessing and you will not be in a state of loss. One of the ways for this, is to take care of one’s adab before sleeping i.e. to be clean when you sleep, take wudhu’ and reciting Ayatul Kursi before you sleep. This is in relation to the advice of the Prophet (PBUH), in which if one recites Ayatul Kursi before going to sleep, Allah will send an Angel to come and look after you and protect. Likewise the people who love to read the Qur’an and love to make remembrance of Allah swt, the angels love such people and would love to be with them and because of the angels always surrounding them, Habib said that such people will not be in the state of loss but continuous benefit. If you ponder upon this, this is an extraordinary as even by reciting Qur’an or remembering Allah before you sleep, the angels will make du’a for you.

Furthermore, the remembrance of Allah in gatherings of remembrance like the Hadrah Basaudan is for us to establish a relationship of love with the Righteous Salihin. When we mention their names, when reciting the Fateha, we are introducing ourselves to these great men of Allah. And these Saints of Allah will remember us, as we remember them.

This is Chapter 4 of the famous work, known as The Burdah, sung by Manaqib Nasheeds.

Al-Busiri narrated the circumstances of his inspiration to write the Burdah:

...I had composed a number of praise poems for the Prophet, Allah bless Him and salute Him with peace, including one that was suggested to me by my friend Zayn al-Dīn Yʿaqūb b. al-Zubayr. Some time after that, I was stricken by fālij (stroke), an illness that paralyzed half of my body. I thought that I would compose this poem, and so I made supplications to the Prophet Muhammad, Allah bless Him and salute Him with peace, to intercede for me and (and ask God to) cure me. I repeatedly sang the poem, wept, prayed, and asked for intercession. Then I slept and in my dream, I saw the Prophet, Allah bless Him and salute Him with peace. He wiped my face with His blessed hands and covered me in His Mantle (Burdah). Then I woke up and found I was able to walk; so I got up and left my house. I had told no one about what had happened.

I encountered a Sufi (faqīr) on my way and he said to me: “I want you to give me the poem in which you praise the Prophet, Allah bless Him and salute Him with peace.”

I said: “Which one?”

So he said: ”The one that you composed during your sickness.”

Then he recited the first verse and said: “I swear by God that I heard it in a dream last night being sung in the presence of the Prophet Muhammad, Allah bless Him and salute Him with peace. I saw the Prophet, Allah bless Him and salute Him with peace, was pleased with it and covered the person who sang it with His Mantle.”
So I recited the poem to him and he memorized it and related his vision to others.

The Burda is divided into 10 chapters and 160 verses all rhyming with each other. Interspersing the verses is the refrain, "My Patron Deity, confer blessings and peace continuously and eternally on Your Beloved, the Best of All Creation" (Arabic: مولاي صلي و سلم دائما أبدا على حبيبك خير الخلق كلهم). Each verse ends with the Arabic letter mīm, a style called mīmīya. The 10 chapters of the Burda comprise:

On His Miracles
On the Exalted Stature and Miraculous Merits of the Qur'an
On the Ascension of the Prophet
