At the Theatres is Karthick Iyer Live's first ever vocal based track. This song is about a day in the life of some people who go to the theatre to watch a play. This play explores relationships between a man and woman leaving the audience with an imprint of the similar situations they face in their lives everyday.

At the Theatres - IndoSoul by Karthick Iyer Live

My first proper music video, (Link to Video : http://youtu.be/QPT3uup_pOU), I have had the amazing opportunity to work with the Nightingale of California, Meera Manohar in a re-arragment of the song by Ouseppachan, Andhi Maalai.


The tune of the song is heavily derived from the famous kriti of Saint Thyagaraja, 'Endaro Mahanubhavulu'. Meera and I both love this Thyagaraja swamy krithi and so decided that as our first project, we will do a re-arrangement of the Andhi Maalai song. :-D

The original album was released under A R Rahman's name although he had played only as a keyboardist*. The vocals were by S Janaki in the original version with lyrics by Vairamuthu

It had been a long pending one, the desire to compose something in the raga sahana. Sahana is one of the very beautiful ragas and has a few pieces in film songs which are all huge blockbusters. 

Similar to my composition Beauty of Nalinakanthi, I made this as Beauty of Sahana. Do check this one and if you like it, do share it with your friends (Reposting, facebook, twitter and what not ;)).
