Woo! I'm back after a long hiatus with a new track from my Jak and Daxter Rescored series! Get your winter coats, because this time we're headed to Snowy Mountain. 

This one was a nice change from the previous tracks I've remastered, as it's slower and more ominous sounding. I loved this level so much when I was young, especially because - iirc - you can look back at where you've been so far during the journey from the mountaintop. I also remember the sleigh bells feeling so perfect for the time, as I'd gotten a PS2 and this game for Christmas that year and played it nonstop as the snow raged outside. :D

I only have about one or two more tracks in this series before I tackle some Jak II tracks. The next one should be a bit longer - I'm so excited for it! A hint: epic boss.

Snowy Mountain - Jak and Daxter Rescored VOL. I: Track 4 - ManeJayne Game Orchestra

This is my final remake track in my Jak and Daxter Rescored series. The original soundtrack was made by Josh Mancell for Naughty Dog's game, Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy. By the way, I found out this year is the 20th anniversary of the series - here's to one of the best game trilogies of all time! :)

This one was a friggin' blast to make, definitely my favorite so far of the Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy tracks in my Rescored series. I had a little too much fun with the koto and references to other songs in the series - can you pick them out?

From here on, I intend to explore remaking some of the songs from the other games in the series. There's one in Daxter and a few in Jak II and Jak 3 I've been thinking about. Please look forward to them!

Klaww Battle - Jak and Daxter Rescored VOL. I: Track 5 - ManeJayne Game Orchestra

NOTE: the original song was composed by Jamey Scott for Ready at Dawn studios' beloved PSP game, Daxter. This track is a rescored version.

As promised, here is the track from Daxter I mentioned I wanted to make: Strip Mine (though it technically is used in the opening cutscene too, so it's sort of a main title too, I think?). HOLY CRAP was this one of my favorite tracks from childhood, and I've dreamed of making my own version for years. 

I used to open the marketing site for Daxter and refresh its page and listen to this track ad nauseum on repeat because it was such a jam. Kudos for Jamey Scott for the original piece and to Ready at Dawn for making such a great Jak and Daxter game. Also, thanks to Orange Lightning too, of course, for saving Jak from prison. ;)

Now... onto Jak II music! :D

Strip Mine - Daxter Rescored - ManeJayne Game Orchestra

NOTE: the original soundtrack for Jak 2 was made by the wonderfully talented Josh Mancell, Larry Hopkins, and Mark Mothersbaugh. This track is an orchestral cover of the original Jak 2 Main Theme.

Fasten your rift rider seatbelts friends, because now we're headed to a much darker and epic orchestral cover future. This is the first of the Jak 2 orchestra covers I am making.

This track posed a special challenge - there are a lot of similarities between the first and second game's soundtracks (those percussion instruments, man), but Jak 2's soundtrack's tone is very different. Makes sense, given the cyberpunk dystopian setting and Jak's new fondness for swearing and guns :D . So I had to shift my focus to a darker, more epic sound for it, whereas the tracks I covered from the first game were more peaceful or whimsical.

I have about four more songs in mind to cover from Jak 2's soundtrack - please look forward to them!

Jak 2 Main Theme - Jak and Daxter Rescored VOL. 2: Track 1 - ManeJayne Game Orchestra

NOTE: the original soundtrack for Jak 2 was made by the wonderfully talented Josh Mancell, Larry Hopkins, and Mark Mothersbaugh. This track is an orchestral cover of the original Jak 2 Haven City theme.

A perfect song for trailing around your favorite dystopian cyberpunk city. Just make sure not to draw the attention of the dudes with the red armor. They hate the smell of this part of the city.

This song made me feel rather down while making it - I didn't realize how dark it was. Ironic for a song called 'Haven'. It's like heavenly instruments like the harp and strings but twisted all dark, kind of like Jak who used to be heroic but goes through dark eco torture so he's more moody in Jak 2. I think I just found some musical symbolism! :0

HAPPY 20TH BIRTHDAY JAK AND DAXTER! 🎂#JakMonth

In celebration of the series' important birthday, I made an orchestral cover of my favorite track from the entire series: the Jak 3 End Credits / Theme (plus some teary goodness from the 'Find My Son' scene where good old Damas, well... you know :'0). Credit goes to Josh Mancell, Mark Mothersbaugh, and Larry Hopkins for the original wonderful music in these games. 

Also, not sure if the Naughty Dog team will ever read this, but if they do, thank you from the bottom of my heart for this wonderful series - it was such a special part of my childhood, and one I still love to this day.

I meant to get to other covers from Jak 2 and 3 before this one, but I jumped the gun and wanted to finish and release this one for the 20th anniversary because it is so iconic and I consider it the "main theme" of the series. Hope you all enjoy!

The first in my Rescored series and the first of the Jak and Daxter tracks I intend to remake. This one was a blast to make! 

What's neat about how Josh Mancell scored the Jak games is that he made the music contextual; certain layers of instruments would only play if you were doing certain things or by certain people, something I attempted to retain in this version.

Perhaps - if you listen closely - you'll hear the same marimba that plays by Samos' hut and Keira's workshop, the tuba of the Mayor, the flute of the Bird Lady, or the shamisen of the Farmer.

There are other instruments for other villagers in here as well, all playing along as Sandover wakes up and gets to work. Of course, none of them are working as hard as Jak and Daxter as they run around and collect Precursor Orbs. Especially Daxter. ;)

I'm back with another remake in my Rescored series!

Like many who played the Jak and Daxter series, the first area I remember going to after Sandover Village is Sentinel Beach. It had such a calming and beautiful track to match an area just as much so, and one I found more tricky than Sandover Village to remake. 

There's just so much going on here and such a mix of instruments I never pictured mixing together before (a didgeridoo with a bassoon, marimba, and ney flute?), but they work really well! 

I hope you bob your ahead along with the beat as much as I did while putting it together. :)

Here's a hint towards the next track I intend to remake for Jak and Daxter: zoom zoom boom boom.

Track 3 of the Jak and Daxter Rescored series! This was my favorite track from the original game - the best part was always the cowbell, drums, and marimba. There's something about it that feels like a heartbeat and ticking clock to me - makes sense, if you're trying to outrace a gang of Lurkers who are setting bombs to blow up the pass around you. :D

Here's a hint for the fourth Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy track I'm currently rescoring: sleigh bells.
