L8 NITE TV is an album which tries to capture the feeling you get when you fall asleep with the TV on and wake up at some unknown time late at night when everything still feels like a dream. Come dream and enjoy tonight's feature programming with Crystal Cola!

"A couple years back I was between jobs and found myself wrapped in hiraeth, alleviated only by retreating into a world of 80s made-for-tv films I found on VHS in second hand shops, romance OVA anime sourced from poorly seeded torrents and online image boards. There's an elusive word that exists if you combine this media and consume between 12am and sun-rise, where time stops and the world becomes filled with emotional electric piano melodies, enrapturing memories of lost connections, desaturated trips to the beach, hazy socials and an eternal optimism that you can always come back to tomorrow night, even if it feels out of reach. 
During this time I came across a soundcloud link to an artist that perfectly captured the sounds of those OVAs that I had escaped to. The tunes were layered, the synths sounded vintage, the structures were satisfying and I became instantly transported into that world. That was Crystal Cola's first 3 tracks. I won't go further into what happened next, but we became friends. 
Crystal Cola has only gone from strength to strength, and with L8 Nite TV he showcases vastly expanded abilities to produce layered, complex and exciting modern city pop. With L8 Nite TV Crystal Cola has introduced a wide array of new instrumentation, things that had been hinted to before in his work on cmyk! and with ALISON (who makes an excellent collaborative appearance on the stand out track CROSSTALK). We are greeted with beautiful saxophone licks on CROSSTALK, rhythmic guitar accompanyment on NIGHT WALK and complex sophisticated drum fills on almost all tracks. This is one of the rare moments where we get to hear a producer announce their talent, skill and vision to the world. With each listen, more of the production skills are revealed, all while being super poppy, happy and addictive. 
As I listen to L8 Nite TV for the umpteenth time I find myself once again transported to a happy place which swells a sense of joy and comfort in me. 
Take a trip into late night wonder, with Crystal Cola as your guide."

Space Pirate Elza is notorious across Federation Space. Despite the fact that only ever steals food, ammunition and fuel for her ever-growing crew. Elza has only been sailing the stars for 10 years, but is one of the most wanted pirates in the Galaxy simply for the fact that she likes to taunt the Federation. No one knows quite what the federation did to her, but it must have been bad. Some say that's where all the scars on her face came from. Some kind of experiment gone wrong during the mechanoid wars perhaps? Maybe they took her children from her?  
Elza considers herself the first member of the "Galaxy's free peoples," and believes in free love, free-flowing booze and not having to listen to anybody. She embraces pirate aesthetic, too.  One last fun fact: All the Tsu'ghui look exactly like her. Is she behind the Tsu'ghui attacks?
(And yes, her character design is literally orange spaceVerse. :| )
