The show begs to answer one of the defining questions of the last 1000 years: “What is Boogie?” Host Tim Zawada alongside notable guests from across the globe, play an assortment of underrepresented and left leaning with a large focus on the later 70s to early 80s Boogie Phenomenon with a healthy dose of contemporary Boogie Styles, House and Spaced Out Modern Funk.

Star Creature Universal Vibes Radio - Guest Mix

In celebration of Hip Hop's 50th year, we've teamed up with London based ‘Classic Material’ to present a chronologically themed series of mixtapes celebrating the history of recorded rap music, mixed by Chris Read. This megamix serves as short form companion to our recent 1997 mixtape, this time cramming just under 20 classic tracks into a brief 3.5 minute run time. Artwork pays homage to classic indie imprint ABB Records.

In celebration of the genre’s 50th year, we’ve teamed up with London based ‘Classic Material’ to present a chronologically themed series of mixtapes celebrating the history of recorded Rap music, mixed by Chris Read. Alongside the Hip Hop series, this companion Breaks series takes our re-cap of Rap History a level deeper, this time reconstructing the classics of the Hip Hop canon from their constituent sample material. Arranged chronologically of course, this tenth volume pieces together popular Hip Hop tunes from the years of 1996 and 1997, utilising only the Funk, Soul & Jazz tracks from which they were originally constructed – over 80 breaks in the mix! Artwork pays homage to Paul Winley’s iconic ‘Super Disco Brakes’ compilation series.

In celebration of Hip Hop's 50th year, we've teamed up with London based ‘Classic Material’ to present a chronologically themed series of mixtapes celebrating the history of recorded rap music, mixed by Chris Read. Edition #12 in this year by year series pays tribute to the Hip Hop of 1998, a year often celebrated as the pinnacle of the late 90s ‘Indie’ era. Revered independent labels including Rawkus, ABB, Fondle Em and countless other less well known imprints released some of their strongest material during the year. Artwork pays tribute to the Rawkus Records logo.

In celebration of Hip Hop's 50th year, we've teamed up with London based ‘Classic Material’ to present a chronologically themed series of mixtapes celebrating the history of recorded rap music, mixed by Chris Read. Edition #13 in this year by year series pays tribute to the Hip Hop of 1999, a year which marked a coming of age for the Indie Hip Hop scene. Whereas the previous year had been dominated by leftfield and arguably less commercially accessible indie releases, 1999 delivered more accomplished and club friendly indie releases with labels such as Rawkus really growing into their hype. Artwork references Tommy Boy's 'Black Label' sub label.
