Out today, July 28th, Anish Sood releases his first track as Anyasa marking the beginning of his transition to a new artist name and signature sound.

‘Rasiya’ is the first single from Anyasa’s debut four track EP Gaya, and it sets the tone for Anish’s new style which is a unique blend of electronic production that has become his trademark over the past decade and Indian classical vocals that represent his roots. Gaya, a derivation from ‘Gaia’ the Greek goddess of Mother Earth, is an ode to feminine energy, the raw creative force from which all artistry is born. 
 
This sentiment is personified by the four stand-out singer/songwriters who have contributed to this EP – Isheeta Chakravarty, Bawari Basanti, Avneet Khurmi and Amira Gill. Each of them have collaborated with Anish to create a sound that is emotive and evocative. A series of Instagram and Spotify discoveries resulted in this collaborative journey – one layered with unique textures owing to Anish’s unconventional use of classical vocals with contemporary house and techno production.
 
What started off as an experimental project during lockdown turned into a process of transformation with Anish finding himself gravitating towards this new sound. “It’s almost like this transition was meant to happen at this point in time” says Anish, and that led to the name Anyasa which means “spontaneous and effortless” in Sanskrit.
 
Having started his music career in 2008 at the age of 18, Anish played a huge part in shaping the dance music scene in India and is no stranger to the global platform. At the forefront of the electronic music movement in the country, he’s toured alongside a wide array of acts ranging from Dixon and Black Coffee to David Guetta and Kygo, while performing at global festivals including Tomorrowland Unite and Electric Daisy Carnival as well as co-writing a song with the Black Eyed Peas. 
 
However, this EP marks a special milestone. Anish is the first Indian artist to be signed to Anjunadeep, the label founded by Above & Beyond and named after the infamous Anjuna Beach in Goa, close to where Anish lives. On being the first artist from India to appear on the label Anish talks about how “Anjunadeep is a globally revered label and a dream for any electronic muisician to work with” and that “I couldn’t have dreamt of a better home for this EP”. 

Gaya is slated for worldwide release on 12th August, while Rasiya, the first look into this new sound is out on the 28th of July.

In August 2021, Indian artist Anish Sood transitioned to his new moniker Anyasa and set out on a new journey for an electronic musician from the subcontinent. He released his debut EP ‘Gaya’ on global dance label Anjunadeep which gained praises by Mixmag, Rolling Stone India and Times of India as well as gaining DJ support from Eelke Kleijn, Adriatique and Maceo Plex. 

Anyasa is poised to take the next step in his journey with the release of his second EP, ‘Athena’, out March 30th. Named after the Greek goddess of wisdom and strength, the EP is as much a reflection of Anyasa’s strong deep house roots as it is of the female energy that finds its way into the EP with the voices of his collaborators. Featuring Tanmaya Bhatnagar, Barbie Rajput, Abhilasha Sinha and Chitralekha Sen, the four tracks on the EP are the perfect epilogue to ‘Gaya EP’, reinforcing Anyasa’s ability to take his listeners through an emotional journey. 

Anyasa’s consistency as a proficient Indian producer is clear from the balance he has attained between classical Indian sounds and modern electronica. His distinctive style found global acceptance early on with ‘Gaya EP’, and under the Anjunadeep banner, Athena is set to make a larger impact, evident from the inclusion of lead single ‘Birha’ in the label’s flagship compilation Anjunadeep 13. 

‘Athena EP’ will be accompanied by Anyasa’s highly acclaimed live show. The first tour featured sold-out shows across India and performances at the iconic Mixmag Lab in Goa as well as the Dubai Expo 2020. Taking a step further, the upcoming live tour will feature strong interactive visuals using live camera feeds to immerse the audience within the show.
