In the misty confines of the Irati Forest, where oaks and beeches whisper ancient secrets, lies a legend that only the bravest of hearts dare to seek. They say that when the mist settles like a veil over the paths, and silence becomes solemn, the figure of Joan III of Albret, legitimate queen of Navarre, appears, mounted on a steed as white as the moon.
At her side ride one hundred loyal knights, wrapped in cloaks embroidered with the shield of Navarrese chains. They are not specters or shadows, but guardians of an ancient oath: to reconquer the lands south of the Pyrenees, still under foreign rule. Their eyes burn with the flame of justice, and their swords, although sheathed, vibrate with the echo of battles to come.
The shepherds of the area say that, on nights of the new moon, songs in ancient Basque can be heard, like hymns of resistance. Some claim to have seen banners waving among the trees, and others to have felt an invisible hand guiding them as they became lost in the undergrowth.
Joan does not age, she does not sleep, she does not forget. Her spirit, woven with the dignity of a queen and the pain of a divided homeland, remains in Irati as a sentinel of the Navarrese soul. She does not seek revenge, but redemption. She does not desire war, but justice.

The Maghreban is the most recent alias of an artist who has projects dating as far back as 1995. They deal in everything from drum & bass to jazz, hip hop to techno, and this most recent moniker doesn’t find the producer narrowing down his scope in any way. Proof comes with his debut album 01DEAS on R&S next month. It is a wildly diverse record that takes in 13 different genres studies from afro rock to freak house, jazz beats to dub rollers. Each one is perfectly produced and sounds utterly authentic. 

It should be no surprise, then, that the hour selection he has put together for us is just as wilfully schizophrenic. It’s a masterful mega mix of sounds and scenes and styles that really shouldn’t go together, but they do. Curious synth jams segue into serene electro, swinging dub house brushes up with horror soundtracks and high summer afro grooves dance next to cosmic disco in effortlessly coherent ways from start to finish.

Wa Wu We is the artist alias and label from Sebastian Mullaert. This is the third chapter, crafted in the Swedish woods. The fi rst 6 episodes of the Wa Wu We label will form a collection of records, united by their significant and unique cover art and the way they’ve been recorded; this being the focus on improvising expression, resting in meditation and the nature surrounding Sebastian’s studio. All 6 of these episodes will be limited to 500 copies each.
