In existence there are ideal forms and there are imperfect manifestations of these forms.  It is a matter of philosophy which is more real to us in our experience of the world:  the perfect idealized form of an apple, or the imperfect manifestation of this form that is said to "participate in apple-ness".  In fact we don't ever see the real idealized form of an object or an idea. It is as if, as Plato said, we are prisoners of a cave, where the objective form sits outside the cave and casts shadows on the interior wall of the cave.  We see only these shadows that are subject to the limitations of our perception and influenced by the collection of our emotional beliefs and past experiences.  More abstractly, these shadows may represet a potential relationship, any of our desires or goals, our self image, or a myriad of any possible other more mundane things. We reach towards these shadows trying to understand as best we can, trying to refine them to be one step closer to perfection.  Sometimes magic happens here. Other times it does not.  Sometimes we fail to realize when it has happened.  Other times we fool ourselves into believing it has happened when it has not. The best we can hope for is to remain humble and patient, and continue to believe our perception will eventually converge with reality if we continue growing and reaching for shadows...

These projects have been two decades in the making and represent a return to traditional music composition, engaging song-writing, and the pure passion of emotional story-telling. This trio represents Andrew's most personal and intimate music. It is quite literally a love project. We hope it may help you on your journey, as it has us...

"Autumn Rains" is music inspired by the spirit of Agape. It is an album dedicated to the concept of spiritual love and universal compassion clothed in the metaphor of transcendental natural beauty. It is an album that simultaneously expresses deep love for both the creator as well as the creation. It is said God gave us music so that we could pray without words. It could be added that nature was provided as an example of exactly how to do this effectively. In this spirit, Autumn Rains is a prayer of gratitude for the opportunity to learn from the natural beauty of this world, and an expression of a sense of respect for the inescapable universal equality that nature imposes. It humbly attempts to capture deep feelings of awe, granduer, idealism, and a belief in the innate goodness of the world even when we all face exceptionally hard lessons.

Frost Light Project // NoC feat. Mari Kattman - Particle Dynamics

Few newcomers have created that stir that Italy’s Alessandro Parisi has caused. Following releases on Lux Rec, Minimal Rome and Flight Recorder this young producer has captivated audiences with his textured electronics and vivid soundscapes. It is to this bright talent that Frigio Records have turned to proudly introduce the label’s first full vinyl full length: Cathar Rhythms. 

Soundtracks have always been a focal point for Parisi, a core of his inspiration. This love of the analogue movie score permeates the six track album, fortified with a new toughened rhythmic edge. Claps and snares ricochet against rising arpeggios and rich chords, as in the building tide of “Wenstern Monk.” Darkness is never far from the Parisi palette, the blackened alleyways and leaden grandeur of the cathedral peppered Italian capital. But now that ashen aspect has been further blotted by bolstered beats. This nightsky is combined with one of the cores of Italian society, Religion. Spiritual motifs festoon the LP. “Trapped Angel” shatters drum patterns against sweetened choral vocals for an intoxicating blend of ethereal electronics. The divine is balanced with the base, heavenly with the human. Percussion peals, bruising the lofty “Bishop Fulk” before the final confession. Strung-out, haunting bars are pierced for “Moments of Extremis,” Parisi finding equilibrium between saintly synthlines and sinister slicing snares. 

Cathar Rhythms marks a new musical venture for this talented Italian. His well-honed, brooding electronics are further fortified with full rhythms and an even darker countenance. “Something wicked this way comes…”

Mannequin has the dual and parallel aim to unearth hidden or unpublished gems, running along a road that starts from the period of reference for this kind of music (late 70s – mid 80s) and comes to nowdays, with a vision deeply influence by Factory Records / 4AD labels. 

Catching the same spirit of such great labels, we asked to the italian synth wave princess Mushy to create a compilation starting from a tabula rasa. The mission was hard. Following her tastes and heart, she had to select a dozen of new bands from all over the world with unreleased and unique for this project tracks, picking up the title and realizing the graphic design and artwork. The full process of "The End Of Civilization" took almost 1 year but the result was touching us ￼deep into our soul. 

Mushy began her career crafting noise bursts and aggressive oblique instrumentals before, in her newest form, blooming into a beautiful, epic and heart-heavy icy synth sound, having both "Faded Heart" (2011) and "Breathless" (2012) as album of the week at Rough Trade. "The End Of Civilization" perfectly represents her double sided synth-wave / kraut-psychedelic soul. Every track she selected for us is an absolute highlight, moving from the analog minimal / cold wave sounds of Police Des Moeurs, ASSS, The Circa Tapes, TEEEL and Rosemary to the tempestuous post punk and psychedelia of Deathday, The Murder Act, Phosphor and The Strange Forces, ending with spectral cold folk of Tablets and The Long Wives.

The Coombe began as a soundtrack collaboration between Karen Sharkey and Samuel De La Rosa (Led Er Est) for some animated short films Karen was producing while living in Queens, NY. After their move to Texas in 2012, further experimenting resulted in longer songs, noise suites, and field recordings that later would represent the essence of this EP.
 
The Coombe’s debut EP is an astonishingly graceful and multifaceted creature that effortlessly synthesizes psych rock, minimal folk and electronica.
 
Born and in part recorded in the desert, The Coombe is comprised of six mesmerizing gems that provide a rarefied glimpse into a touching and  liquid soundscape.
 
These are songs for the enamored.

The Coombe - B1 - Poulnabrone

DUST is a contemporary ouroboros of acid house, combat techno, and late italo. A collective consisting of avant garde Korean noise goddess Greem Jellyfish, psych musician/model Angela Chambers, dungeon wizard/tech genius audio engineer Michael Sherburn, and DIY nightlife entrepreneur /DJ John Barclay, they are headquartered at infamous psychedelic/art/techno mansion Trip House in the jungles of Deep Bushwick. 

DUST utilizes both vintage hardware (909, 303, Juno 60) and HD cinematic soundscapes to create a heavy, lavish experience. 

Founded in 2012 by Sherburn and Barclay, DUST was originally a dark italo project. Soon Chambers and later Jellyfish were incorporated to enliven the dark magic with their sporadic vocals, and live energy. DUST released “Past Future,” their first EP on Brooklyn’s Low Life Inc. 

DUST performed their first live set alongside Gatekeeper, Supreme Cuts, and Teengirl Fantasy at the Dustbowl, a DIY venue in Chicago, and has since performed and/or DJ'ed alongside Light Asylum, Kim Ann Foxman, Phuture, DJ Pierre, Pictureplane and Steve Summers. Also, DUST serves as resident DJs at “Tropical Goth” a monthly party at Bossa Nova Civic Club, which Barclay owns, in Brooklyn.
