So here I am, happily an album older, introducing the first of Adamant's remix packages.

Since the whole project was, generally-speaking, "a personal affair" and a lot of the album was not necessarily "club-ready" (does that even make sense?), we invited our friends on board to do the dirty deeds for me and rework my sounds into something normal people can dance to.

First up are Mind Against. I've known these guys for a long time, and despite them being somewhat "new" to the scene, I clearly remember them fiddling around with cheap cracked software like the rest of us Milanese idiots around the same time. Matured into true synth magicians, they've been years in the making and, if you ask me, it shows.

Next is Alex Smoke, who I believe needs no introduction. Probably one of my biggest influences, I have been a fan for ages and he is the reason I discovered Vakant. In case you've been living under a rock, after a little break he's now back with a bang, responsible for probably one of the year's best LPs (as Wraetlic), an outstanding EP on the legendary R&S and now this. I've had the pleasure of finally meeting and hanging out with Alex a few times while we were both living in Berlin and I have to say he's exactly as awesome. His remix totally destroys my original, which I thought sounded "fat" but now sounds like a skinny girl in Barbie clothes in comparison.

Lake People (actually just one Lake Person, Martin Enke) is another really nice guy who just happens to make great music. After months of people telling me I should check his stuff out, mentioning we had a lot of things (sound-wise) in common, I had the pleasure of playing after him in Paris. His liveset totally rocked the place and I've been a fan since, so it was a pleasure to have him on board.

Last but not least, new Vakant boys Sons of Tiki round off the package with a club-oriented version of "Blackened".

I guess that's all. I'm not very good at this marketing hype thing, and upon re-reading this it actually made little sense, nor is it particularly inviting. Whatever the case I hope you enjoy listening, playing or partying to this as much as we did making it: I assure you the music is better than this writing.

So well received as a Snack in December, garnering press from Pitchfork, and heavy supports from Annie Mac, and the BBC Internationally, we had to gather remixes from some of our favourite producers of the moment. Londoner (by way of Italy) His Majesty Andre gives the royal treatment, following up last summer's smash 'Sunshine'. Colorado's Wuki uses signature sounds and strong bass groove to deliver a classic electro tinged mix. Rounding out the package, hotly-tipped Los Angeles based duo Bixel Boys take us to the club, via the big room, with some class. Lighters up! It's time for a kayper.

Kayper is an internationally renowned DJ & Producer from the UK. Very few Dj's can transition from club sets to high profile festival performances, and her limitless skills have earned Kayper a cult following throughout the underground, mainstream dance and urban music scenes. With residencies and headline shows at some of the world's biggest clubs, from Ministry of Sound London to New York's SOB's; and her festival appearances including headlining The Neon Carnival at Coachella. Winner of the Best Club DJ at the London Club Awards 2012, she is also one of only a select few British DJ's to have a regular residency at LIV in Miami, and the only DJ to headline the Fontainebleau Party alongside Drake for NYE 2013. Not bad for a girl from Croydon!

Moresounds' first release for the Cosmic Bridge label - which also doubles up as his first vinyl release - is a cocktail of old and new flavours processed, re-arranged and output through analogue gear to produce an auditory delight in the finest champion sound tradition. The obvious primary influences are from Jamaican legends such as King Tubby, Scientist and Jammy whose mastery of the dark arts of dub have had a long-lasting effect on the French producer. Additional influences come from a more personal angle, as early memories and experiences of free parties in his homeland play a strong part in helping Moresounds ground his music in a spirit of fun that is always inclusive.



The four tracks on the EP were run through a mixing desk and stack of outboard, analogue effects to give a serious bounce to the riddims and life to the melodies. The result is quite simply irresistible. Managing to sidestep any potential attempt at calling his dub work pastiche, Moresounds delivers the real deal across four cuts. Weeda is pure digidub, as infectious and potentially addictive as the subject matter of its refrain. Analog Steak is what happens when hip hop gets bitten by the same zombies Scientist was trying to rid the world of and turns mutant in the process. The only known cure is a hefty dose of analogue synthesizers, Dr. Moresounds is at the controls and the dancefloor is the operating table. Shtrakstep is what Moresounds refers to as du ' Lourd Raggadelic*' lourd means heavy in French, and well that riddim kind of weighs a ton. No Coke closes the EP on a raggastep vibe. Yes we realise that's two slightly ridiculous genre names in one paragraph but when the music includes such a delirious mix of ragga and bass what can you do. Breath Control bridges the analogue and digital worlds effortlessly. Inspired by electronic music, jungle, dub and hip hop it's a musical melting pot rendered all the more potent by its honesty and simplicity. As some of our favourite video games from the 80s were fond of reminding us, "Winners Don't Take Drugs" - but that doesn't mean we can't all go on a trip together.

*Raggadelism is defined as a mix of ragga and psychedelic. It's a humble journey into mystical dub, a mix of ancestral and modern bass flavours partly inspired by a vinyl shop called 'Bidule' which Moresounds' parents ran in the 70s.

Stroboscopic Artefacts presents the Monad series. Rarefied and introspective, confrontational and extreme, each featured artist will delve into the Monad concept:
“The generation of number series is related to objects of geometry as well as cosmogony. From the Monad evolved the Dyad; from it numbers; from numbers, points; then lines, two-dimensional entities, three-dimensional entities, bodies, culminating in the four elements earth, water, fire and air, from which the rest of our world is built up.”
Xhin’s Monad III is dark. It’s a veritable master class in the art of techno: not one murmur is superfluous and not one beat drops out of place. The tracks are terrifyingly elegant, unfathomably deep and laced with delicious surprises. Spliced with the knowledge of a geneticist. Cut with the scissors of a master tailor. Analogies fall short. These inexplicable tracks, meticulously crafted from distortion and darkness, seem to somehow have undergone the next stage of evolution.

Xhin 'Monad III' [SAM003]

Taking advantage of Buraka Som Sistema's introduction of kuduro as part of the global musical landscape, J-WOW quickly understood it was meant to last. As the percussive madness imported from Luanda began informing beatmakers and producers all over the globe, people started re-imagining it and giving it new forms and purposes. They cross-bred it with house, techno, dubstep and the list goes on: it became a very strong influence for producers who like to see sweaty bodies on the dance floor.

It was inevitable. J-WOW started recruiting some of his favorite producers from around the globe and challenged them to reinterpret the kuduro phenomenon in their own unique ways. Artists like Bok Bok, Douster, Seiji, Zombies For Money or Canblaster - among many others - heeded his call and came forth with the most eclectic, weird, crazy and awesome blend of pumped-up percussive bangers that shot the kuduro genre to Outer Space and back. The result was the mini-compilation series we lovingly called Hard Ass Sessions.

Three years and six volumes later we bring you this full-fledged compilation, featuring J-WOW's personal favorites of the series, hand-picked to give you the best possible experience inside the Hard Ass universe. This seasoned DJ and founding member of Buraka Som Sistema selected tunes from Nic Sarno, Melé, Pocz & Pacheko, Poirier and many other members of the Hard Ass family, casting a new light on some of our favorite tunes from the Enchufada catalogue. As an added bonus we've reached out to the really cool Hungarian production duo Slap In The Bass and decided to welcome them to the family by including the previously unreleased tune "Tapa".

As a producer Manni has worked alongside the likes of Jeff Wootton (Gorillaz), Mike D (Beastie Boys), Daniel Avery (co-producing his no’1 UK dance album, ‘Ultra Truth’), Cecile Believe, Art School Girlfriend, Kelvin Krash, Clem Douglass, Yunè Pinku, HAAi, UNIIQU3, Flohio, ESG, Serge Pizzarno (Kasabian), Matt Healy (1975), SHERELLE, James Massiah, and Jas Shaw (Simian Mobile Disco). Other projects include working on campaigns for Alexander McQueen, Adidas, BBC Olympics and Toyota.

Manni has performed DJ sets at Boiler Room, Glastonbury, Warehouse Project, Piknic Electronik Festival, fabric and ADE as well as tours of India, China and North America. His understanding of sound is unburdened by genre specifics, instead motivated by an ever-expanding set of interwoven aesthetic codes.

He further demonstrated his ability to synthesise contrasting sounds in his Friday Night Guest mix for Mary Anne Hobbs on BBC Radio 6 Music, Boiler Room, The Lot Radio NYC set and in fiery mixes for Dekmantel and DJ Mag.

With releases on fabric Originals, TWTW records, Tresor, Herrensauna and forthcoming release on Sherelle and Naina’s Hooversound Recordings and remixes for Metronomy, Sleaford Mods, Max Cooper, Daniel Avery, SALOME, The Horrors and Louisahhh amongst others. His productions are a stamp of quality, assimilating sonic touchpoints from far and wide. 

Manni Dee’s creative house Silk + Steel functions as a studio, record label and event series. The platform showcases his own work and fosters collaborations with artists such as TAAHLIAH, Safety Trance, ROOO, Mun Sing, Tim Reaper, River Moon and more, finding moments of connection in order to ideate a new lane for experimentation.
