Songkites supports Cambodian songwriters to write, record and release creative, original music.  This album is the result of a six-month period of workshops and recording sessions with 12 amazing young Cambodians.  

Songkites is not a competition. It is a supportive community of songwriters who inspire and challenge each other to express their originality through music. 

The name ‘Songkites’ is inspired by Cambodia’s famous musical kites, Kleng Ek, which produce melodic tones as they fly.  We imagine each original song here as a ‘songkite’ – released and flying free with the songwriter holding the string. 

Thank you for supporting original music in Cambodia.  All profits from the sale of this CD return to the songwriters and future seasons of Songkites.
