‘WASSA’ (produced by Trackwork founder UTILITY & Gqom pioneers Formation Boyz) is the standout single from Mount Druitt rapper Vv Pete’s debut record ‘VARVIE WORLD’, now receiving a remix courtesy of Zambian-born now Gadigal Land/Sydney-based producer & DJ, Shuko.

At the time of its release, Mixmag ANZ called 'VARVIE WORLD' "a debut rarely matched by artists at home, let alone abroad." That same kind of energy has been channelled into Shuko's remix, flipping the original into new light via the recently evolved subgenre of Gqom-Tech. 

Shuko himself called the genre & his remix, "An evolution of Gqom that retains its raw percussive intensity while incorporating more electronic textures and structures drawn from Techno and Afro Tech. It's a heavy hypnotic club record that bridges south african rhythmic roots with a global electronic sensibility."

'WASSA (Shuko Remix)' releases tomorrow, Thursday October 16, via Trackwork's Bandcamp & streaming platforms.
