Boiling club music down to a brutal, incisive essence, Anthoney Hart AKA Basic Rhythm returns to Sneaker Social Club with a trio of sharply honed Drum & Bass cuts for the dance.

With releases on labels as varied as Type, Warp sub-label Arcola, Planet Mu and Future Retro, Basic Rhythm has always presented a clear-sighted vision of what works in the context of hardcore-rooted sounds without ever sounding derivative of what has come before.

Following 2019’s New Style and 2020’s I Don’t Know What I Would Do, Basic Rhythm returns to Sneaker Social with the icy impact of ‘Still’. The lead track runs across the A side in a nuanced sound field of atmospheric impressions, architectural punctuation and an understated but deadly effective beat. With a minimalist approach these subtle touches carry all the more weight.

On the flip, ‘Le Samouraï’ has a similarly spartan palette, albeit with a much knottier rhythmic framework and a more pronounced bed of dread-filled string pads ensuring the vibe remains as moody as possible in a time-honoured UK style. The extraneous silence around the 2/3 marker is the definition of an anti-drop.

Referencing a totemic study of magic and religion, ‘Still (Golden Bough)’ approaches the A side from a subtly altered angle, switching up the textural matter and thus shifting the atmosphere towards something more ritualistic and unnerving. As with the rest of the EP, In something so stark your ears relish every individual element, and yet each subsequent listen brings another dimension of the track to the fore. In the rigour of his sound, Hart once again demonstrates how his rhythms are anything but basic.

The initial seed for this project was planted in 2020 when Nicolás Jaar wrote the song “Piedras” for a concert at the Museum of Memory & Human Rights in Santiago, Chile, which commemorates the victims of human rights violations during the military dictatorship led by Augusto Pinochet between 1973 and 1990. Between 2022-2023 it took on a new form as a radio play entitled 'Archivos de Radio Piedras', which was shared on a dedicated Telegram channel. In 2024, the play was converted into a 24 channel installation at the University Museum of Mexico City (MUAC), where it was exhibited for 5 months.

Piedras 1 and 2 is a collection of the tracks featured within the play, all new music by Jaar, but partly presented within the play as the music of Salinas Hasbún (the name a composite homage to Jaar's grandmothers, Graciela Salinas and Miriam Hasbún).

The play follows two friends mourning the disappearance of Salinas Hasbún, a musician and writer who vanished in the early 2020s. Although they live in a future where technology is advanced, they resort to DIY radio methods because the anonymous group “Las 0cho” has launched a worldwide attack on undersea internet cables, causing a global internet blackout.

The play's central theme revolves around the idea that truths, memories and identities speak from the cracks (“rasgaduras”), or the "in-between" spaces ("en el entre"). This concept is supported by the way much of the narration unfolds - in the liminal spaces between radio frequencies. The instability and transitory nature of a constantly shifting radio dial becomes not just a metaphor but the structure of the play itself. It’s in these moments of noise, static and interference that the deeper revelations of the story emerge. This disjointed, ever-changing medium mirrors the way memory and trauma operate within the play - non-linear, slipping through the gaps, found in fragments or ordinary moments, rather than direct transmissions of “official” historical accounts.

This notion reaches its climax at the end of the narrative, when a text is discovered in which Salinas speaks of finding a new number in a small pond in a cave mentioned in the first episodes of the radio play. This pond, inside the “cochlea of the world”, is seen as a way to introduce real-life randomness to computation. Embodied in the salt lakes of northern Chile, home to the world’s oldest bacteria, this randomness disrupts the rigid order of binary code, paving the way for a transformation of digital life.

Next up for EDWIN MUSIC CHANNEL, is producer, songwriter, and DJ @Gavsborg a member of the Jamaican recording and performance collective Equiknoxx, which has been active since 2015.

Together with his friends Shanique Marie, Time Cow, Bobby Blackbird, and Kemikal Splash, he injected his Dance-hall music particles via elements of field recordings, Hip-Hop, Soul, and Dub. Since 2017 Gavsborg, who currently resides in Berlin, Germany, has released solo music, elevating experimental Dancehall and Reggae to a new plateau, whilst using all the manifold electronic techniques, that modern music production brings along. You can hear Techno's traces in his music. Dub elements are all over the place and soothing rhythms fly high, without catering to the usual dance patterns.

Planisphère is a French collective founded in 2018 that showcases artists from the vast spectrum of experimental music. With a unique blend of abstract soundscapes, cinematic synths, glitch melodies, and altered voices, Planisphère positions itself as a key actor in the contemporary electronic music scene. Since its creation, the collective has organized numerous multidisciplinary events where music and visual arts intersect, providing audiences with immersive and unique experiences. By fostering synergy between various artistic forms, Planisphère contributes to the emergence of new perspectives within the sonic landscape it represents. In 2019, Planisphère expanded its mission by launching an independent label with the compilation Liquid/Solid. In line with the collective's vision, the label seeks to innovate by highlighting diverse yet resolutely experimental aesthetics. Currently, its discography includes fourteen releases featuring artists such as Amelie Nilles, Thea Soti, Prōtokol, Ausgang 256, Richard Francés, DLGHT, Camoufleur, and Please Babe, among others. With Aa. Vv. Planisphère expands their catalog, further extending its ongoing commitment to sonic exploration at the boundaries of contemporary experimental music.

To celebrate its fifth anniversary, Parisian label presents "Aa. Vv.", a bold new compilation that showcases the cutting edge of experimental music today. Featuring 13 tracks from 19 international artists, the release captures a global sonic journey across continents and genres. With contributions from international experimental talents musicians such as Aho Ssan, KMRU, Tryphème, Frédéric D. Oberland and Youmna Saba, this collection offers a deep dive into the diverse and innovative sounds shaping the future of music.

KMRU releases a new track in collaboration with Hungarian experimental vocalist Thea Soti. It is the first time, the two artists have worked together. The track explores ambient and drone sounds with vocals, which are treated as field recordings. Alumnis of the SHAPE+ platform, they presented their works internationally. They are both interested in recycling materials, field recordings, archives and the re- contextualization of sound. This track of the compilation represents well the whole album: ambience, vocals, experimental approach and confident musical explorations.
