This week we are extremely pleased share this contribution to the Repercussion podcast series by our friend Cimadevilla. New to the shores of Aotearoa but a seasoned veteran with in his productions, this young Argentine is gently making his mark while pushing forward boundaries, creating beautiful dance tracks.
Aquatic, hypnotic, scientific and abstract are descripors of his work that are used on highly educated dance floors around the globe. Having releasing music on MORDERN MINIMAL and support from Linear Systems, we are not only excited to see what’s more to come of Cimadevilla but we are also very stoked to have him here in Aotearoa and look forward to having him join us at our parties in the near future

WDDS returns to his own imprint Hectare Discs and is set to captivate once again with the release of Migration. This follows a string of mighty EPs on the label, as well as releases with Woozy & Accidental Meetings.

Migration is a sonic embodiment of WDDS' personal journey from the coastal tranquility of Brighton to the vibrant urban energy of Manchester, featuring collaborations with friends and fellow artists he encountered along the way. It marks a new chapter in his musical trajectory and reflects his artistic evolution and diverse influences, embodying the vast range of his sound palette.

'Moving Freely' pays homage to the golden era of dubstep while seamlessly weaving in elements of drone and techno. This track exemplifies WDDS' ability to honour the past while pushing musical boundaries, resulting in an auditory experience transcending genres.

Tooflez returns with their latest serving, the "Bass Control’’ remix LP, exploring the different dimensions in the multi-faceted universe of ELECTRO. 

The original cut was cooked up by label head-chef ANDI A. Once upon a lock-down, when humans had only machines for company… a Juno 1, an old Yamaha groove box, a glitchy noisy synthesizer and a cheap microphone transpired ‘Bass Control’ into space and time. 

Never intended to be released, 3diz asked Andi A. for the stems one day, and the rest is h̴i̴s̴t̴o̴r̴y̴  the f u t u r e. 

Along with 4 other unique remixes, The Detroit Electro veteran, DJ Di’jital, delivers a bass-heavy, deep dive into the underground; proving once again why no one does it like Detroit does it.

I can't remember the exact first time I met Squidbrain--it was pre pandemic 2010s in Philly so I was wilin'--but I do distinctly remember a great time hanging out at a pier party rave on Columbus Blvd in Philadelphia and loved his vibe. We stayed in touch over the years. I particularly loved his knack for digging for quality but obscure music and quirky sense of humor.

It took until 2023 when I visited him in Berlin, Germany, his residence for a while now, did we really get to kick it for a while. Wearing a bucket hat at a bougy Berlin bistro, it was great to see he still kept the Philly funk in Berlin. We caught up on old times...I learned some unique things about being a Berlin resident and that he's still staying creative with music. It's always refreshing to hang out with a long time club friend in the daytime.

To my surprise, he had been keeping up with the Ancient Puzzle Arts podcast abroad and wanted to contribute a mix. Of course I agreed, not knowing what to expect. In typical form, Squidbrain provided a very unique selection of global underground dance music where the entire mix is comprised of people he personally knows. The mix is quite eclectic but somehow sounds cohesive and very modern. It's cool to hear Squidbrain is staying connected and supportive of his talented friends and able to bring a global perspective to the mix series.
