Kr!z joins for DifferentSound Podcast #211.

Kr!z has been at the forefront of techno for more than a decade. Influenced by the hypnotic and energetic sound helmed by veterans such as Jeff Mills, Steve Rachmad and James Ruskin, he gradually but steadily developed his own identity in the international techno scene. 

After making a name for himself as a skilled DJ with sharp focus and a quick mixing style in home country Belgium and the Netherlands, Kr!z launched Token Records in 2007. It has since been a leading outlet for heady, purist sounds. He rapidly established the label as a fixed value with a timeless and powerful sound and took it around the world with label nights on every continent. Token remains important in defining techno today - always straightforward, sometimes weird, often catchy – all under the helm of Kr!z as avid A&R.

After 12 years spent assiduously focused on curating the Token discography, showcasing artists he has nurtured and supported over this time, and incorporating the connoisseur’s knowledge and experience he has cultivated in his work as a DJ, 2019 saw the release of his long awaited debut EP on Token. ‘Mantra’ received high acclaim by both media and the scene's key DJ’s. This continued in 2020, when he released the track ‘Scorpion’s Tail’ on Voltage Imprint and ‘Malice’ & ‘Imperative Needs’ as part of a split EP with Pfirter on his MindTrip label. 2022 was his most prolific year to date with three full EPs seeing the light of day: ‘Neutrino EP’ on James Ruskin’s Blueprint Records, ‘The Tunnel’ on Setaoc Mass’ hotshot SK_eleven and ‘Atlantis’ on his own Token Records. In 2023 he released ‘Revelation’, his follow up on Blueprint.

As a DJ, Kr!z takes listeners on journey’s surpassing space and time. Led by deeply hypnotic grooves, syncopated rhythms and widely reverberating atmospheres, his desire to guide the dancefloor into unknown depths can be felt with every note. Intensities build up and collapse under his skillful hands, knowing what each knob twist will result in. Each set feels almost like a mathematical calculation, deciphering the code of collective ecstasy.

u.r.trax is a DJ, Producer and vocalist from Paris, France. With vinyl, synthesizers, turntables and RCA cables as roommates, a keen eye and a sharp tongue, she cultivated this difference and carried out her first electronic experiments by launching herself into an almost obsessive relationship with music, which she nurtures by playing every day. The time she doesn't spend composing or mixing, she uses to imagine new ways of enriching her project. A jack-of-all-trades and a bit of a geek, she is constantly looking into new creative tools: deepfake, 3D, algorithms. But until she can control her turntables with her mind, it's her body that serves as her work tool, and which has to keep up with the frantic tempo of the DJ life.

From trippy techno to rough and cold electro and “backroom” dark trance, u.r.trax advocates an “immersive music for the mind», cultivating a unique sound at the crossroads of all her musical influences.
In 2020, she released her first record “Folge Mir” on Hector Oaks’ KAOS and in 2021, dropped her debut EP “Moral Krisis” on the sub-label she was offered : “KAOS-URTRAX”. 
Her early tracks have been tinted with a classic and driving techno sound. However, her releases on Nina Kraviz’ trip recordings and her single “Br0ken” on Ellen Alien’s BPitch marked the beginning of a new era of musical experiments. Her first album Third Ear (trip recordings), released in October 2022 was an exploration of worlds, from psytrance to techno and ethereal sounds, all permeated by the artists ever changing musical identity. During this time, she has also produced remixes for Nina Kraviz, Tiga and Boys Noize, and created contemporary classic and experimental compositions for the fashion label Coperni, expanding her sonic palette and endlessly reinventing her creative persona.

Awasa is a cultural marron dance where the people are deeply connecting on the dancefloor led by the drum rhythms created on the Apintie drum.
The rhythms are driven by pace and connecting the dancers with shake instruments on their ankles to dance gracefully and with power. 

NDYUKA podcast will always be rhythmic and cultural inspired. With this mix here i emphasized the power of the low-end rhythms alongside mysteriousness and some deeper sections to switch up moods but never lose energy.

AWASA APINTIE

Reka Zalan is a Berlin-based Techno DJ and promoter, co-hosting the ://elements series at ://about blank, where she’s resident and part of the booking team. 

Her activities in the local music and club culture scene also include working at Hard Wax, one of Berlin's essential record store addresses. 

Reka's sound is a palpable blend of cosmic and driving Techno, combining deep, gloomy vibes and trippy elements as well as percussion-heavy, groovy and tooly facets. Besides her passion for Techno realms, she loves various forms of (UK) Bass music, Electro (Wave) or experimental beatless soundscapes. 

She also plays under the moniker No Life Signal, a B2B duo with ://elements colleague and DJ fellow THNTS. Since early 2023 now, she's been a member of the local residents team of well-known Berlin Tresor club. 

Furthermore she's part of the Coppi collective, a project space with weekly community-based studio sessions in an off-location between Friedrichshain and Lichtenberg.

BCCO Podcast 380 is very special one. Today we are honoured to have electronic music pioneer Steve Rachmad aka STERAC with us with a two-hour set that was recorded live for promoter 01366 at the White Hotel in Manchester, UK.

Steve has used a range of aliases over his career reflecting his diverse outputs covering dub, disco and house. But STERAC’s focus has always been on the no-nonsense, darker, and deeper side of techno and this set is no exception to that.

Insolate stands as a defining figure in the Croatian techno circuit, achieving international acclaim over two decades as both a revered DJ and producer, and the driving force behind the esteemed Out Of Place label, as well as the electrifying HUSH! and TRAUM events. 

With her roots in Osijek, she initiated her journey in 1997, progressing to captivate audiences across Europe and the globe. Honored as "Croatia’s ambassador overseas" in 2017 and 2018, and lauded as Croatia's top DJ in 2022, Insolate also proudly represented her country at the DJ Awards in Ibiza, claiming the "Dance Nation of the Year" award.
 
Her global presence includes marquee performances at leading clubs and festivals like Berghain, Rex, Tresor, and Tomorrowland, extending to tours across Colombia, the USA, China, and Argentina. Chloe Lula is a resident DJ and releasing artist at Tresor. She's played at Berghain, Boiler Room, Radion, Movement weekend in Detroit, and countless clubs, festivals and parties across Asia, Europe, and, North and South America.

Chloe has released on Tresor Records, Blueprint Falling Ethics. In addition to her career as a DJ and producer, Chloe is a cellist—her debut instrumental full-length was released in November 2024—and Chloe is also the senior producer of Resident Advisor, where she hosts and curates talks and music workshops at festivals like Nuits Sonores, Dekmantel, Unsound, Wire, and many more.

To kick off the year, I’m excited to share my set recorded in August 2024 for the incredible Unfold party at @foldldn!

From the moment I stepped into the club, I was instantly embraced by its electric and welcoming vibe. The venue itself is mind-blowing, and the sound system brought the music to life in a way that was unreal.

What really made the night special was the inclusive, beautiful queer energy throughout the space. It was a true safe haven, where everyone could fully express themselves. Such a cool evening! ❤️
