“For A While”, out 27th August, is the third official single from Alice Russell’s fifth album ‘To Dust’, which dropped in February to immense acclaim including BBC 6Music Album of the Day. The fresh, inventive and hook-laden sound of “For A While” has seen it bubble up to become one of the most popular cuts on the LP; singled out for spot plays by tastemakers including Lauren Laverne and Don Letts (BBC 6Music), it was also picked as Today’s Top Tune on KCRW, and inspired the Jimmy Kimmel Live show to book Alice for her debut US Network TV performance in May.

In addition to the original “For A While”, this single also brings a Radio Edit and a weird and wonderful, synth-heavy new remix from label mate and rising LA based producer Lost Midas, whose inventive, shifty layering of myriad sonic textures – from thundering bass tones to playful bleeps and beeps - remakes the track for a whole different dancefloor. The single is accompanied by a video directed by Steve Glashier, and was premiered by VICE's Noisey.

‘To Dust’ has attracted a slew of positive media coverage, and heavy airplay on BBC 6Music, Radio 2, KCRW and beyond. Numerous live radio sessions include turns for Gilles Peterson and Craig Charles in BBC 6Music Live At Maida Vale; as well as Jamie Cullum (BBC Radio 2), Robert Elms (BBC London), The Selector, Loose Ends (BBC R4), and interviews include Huey Morgan (BBC 6Music), the 6Music Lunchtime Show, Echoes, DJ Mag, Blues & Soul and more. In addition to her aforementioned TV debut, Russell’s recent US tour saw her performing a host of major radio sessions, and fuelling demand for a much larger-scale tour later this year!

‘To Dust’ marks the next step forward in a remarkable career which has seen Alice Russell universally acknowledged as one of the best voices of our time. Highly in demand, she has guested on Talking Heads leader David Byrne’s solo LP, to add to work with Mr Scruff, Quantic, DJ Yoda and Nostalgia 77. But it’s the solo records with TM Juke that she is best known for. Tru Thoughts signed ‘To Dust’ for territories including the UK, Americas, Australasia and Japan; reuniting Alice Russell with the label that introduced her to the world, where she released her first three albums plus many collaborations (including the 6Music Playlisted “Look Around The Corner” with Quantic in 2012).

The inimitable Alice Russell premiere’s her soon to be released remix EP, 'Midnight At The Beverly Laurel' out October 8th via Filter Magazine!

‘Midnight at the Beverly Laurel’, the remix EP contains a special collection of remixes from her most recent album ‘To Dust’. The EP contains new reworks from the likes of Sam Sparro, AOM (aka celebrated UK house DJ Ashley Beedle), UK duo Anushka, renowned deep house dj Giom, the EP also includes previously released remixes by Let The Machines Do The Work, Typesun, Lost Midas and Falty DL.

The name ‘Midnight at the Beverly Laurel’ is based on a dice game called ‘Midnight’ that Alice Russell and crew play each time they stay at the Beverly Laurel hotel in Los Angeles.
 
Sam Sparro, of “Black & Gold” fame takes on the titled track “To Dust”, transforming the tune into a sedated electronic cut, filled with calculated bleeps and atmospheric drums. AOM, also known as the acclaimed 90’s UK house dj Ashley Beedle transports the album’s bonus track “Different” into cosmic realms with his “galaxy vocal” treatment. Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Recordings signee’s Anushka remixes one of the most popular songs on the album “I Loved You”, the duo morphed the haunting original into a pulsating four to the floor house edit. Fabric night club regular and iDJ’s “Rising Star” Giom, also takes the house route with his interpretation of “To Dust”.
 
Alice Russell’s ‘Midnight at the Beverly Laurel’ is available digitally on October 8th via Tru Thoughts. Alice will be touring the US throughout October, dates include two nights in San Francisco, a stop in Philadelphia, New York, Chicago and an appearance in LA at Filter Magazine’s Culture Collides Festival.
