My Stereophoenix June '14

Our 'Summer Movement' series is back after a couple of years of absence! As you've come to expect from us we're presenting you a selection of tracks that capture the true summer vibe and this year we do so with three brand new tracks + two previous released tracks by a wide array of artists.

First up it's Manual boss Paul Hazendonk who teams up with one of the labels' latest signings, Dustin Nantais. 'Underside' marks their second collaboration after having done a cheeky little bootleg titled 'Delirious' which the guys put up as a free give away not too long ago. A sure thing in the sets of both this one due to great crowd response and now available for everyone to enjoy!

With Tim Engelhardt we're welcoming a new name to the label. This talented German has been making quite a name for himself with recent releases on labels such as Parquet Recordings and Ostwind. This time he teams up with Autm to present you the most melodic piece on this release titled 'Alfons'

Sozonov returns to Manual after his appearance on the 'From The Vaults 2.0' release early 2013. The groovy and bouncy tune with the interesting track title 'Acute Paraphrenic Delusion' will move any dance floor without hesitation!

To make the release complete we've added great tracks by both Alex Preda and Ryan Sullivan which previously got an official release on our MNL label in the darker and colder months of the year but we felt they might actually work a little bit better now that the sun is out..

Alex Preda returns on Manual Music's MNL imprint for what will be the first release of the label in 2014. Born in Romania but already residing in Amsterdam for several years, Alex Preda is one of those new breed producers who is getting better and better everytime you hear something new from him, these two tracks being a perfect example of where he stands nowadays.

The title track 'You Know Them' is a complex warm builder, really a song that tells a story made by a producer who clearly understands the deeper meaning of techno music. 'Sun' starts out a bit more straight forward but still coated with that recognisable warm Alex Preda sound, building up towards a bassline changing climax way past the 5 minute mark, this is one for the heads!

Ryan has been turning heads with releases on well respected labels such as Baroque, Manual Music and his own Triplefire imprint. On remix duties you'll find the return of one of our residents, the Amsterdam based Romanian artist Alex Preda who turn things up a notch with his complex and clever interpretation.

Stockholm musical heavyweight, Tiger Stripes tips his hat to early blues legend Robert Johnson with this cover of the classic ‘Cross Road Blues’ backed with remixes from the excellent Phonogenic.

Mikael Nordgren launched his Tiger Stripes project back in 2004, taking inspiration from his hometown of Stockholm, Sweden and unleashing a torrent of exceptional electronic music on the world. In the intervening years he has recorded for labels such as Get Physical, Nite grooves, Liebe*detail & Toolroom and established himself as a key producer with both his original productions and remixes. Away from his work as Tiger Stripes, Nordgren launched his indie/electronica Tandem Sky project, signing a worldwide deal with Warner Music and it is this that has taken much of his focus over the last year and a half. For 2012 he is back with his sights firmly on the house and techno he is renowned for with releases lined up on Toolroom, Audiomatique, Get Physical and of the cause the super hot Canadian label My Favorite Robot Records.

For his debut release with MFRR, Nordgren has bared his broad musical tastes once again with a single built around a cover version of a Robert Johnson blues classic. Johnson’s 1936 recordings ‘Cross Road Blues’ tells the now legendary story of the musicians supposed deal with the devil, selling his soul for musical talent and fame. Norgren’s cover, retitled ‘Crossroads’, sees the Swedish producer step out of the shadows and into the spotlight with his debut vocal performance. The recording itself is a left of centre slice of house that draws on electro influences, dark edged melodies and superb production to create an engaging piece of electronic music that is truly unique.

Alongside the ‘Crossroads’ original there is ‘Dancer From The Dance’ an intense and old school infused house workout that once again features Nordgren’s outstanding vocals over a killer backing track. 

The package is completed with two reworkings of ‘Crossroads’ by label favourite Phonogenic who drives things along a vocal techno/electro route with remix and a deep instrumental tack with his ‘Stripsrumental’.

Once again My Favorite Robot pull another sterling release from the bag and add yet another artist to their ever expanding and unfailingly impressive catalogue.
