“The brief when making an 'Authentic' mix for Steyoyoke is to create an original track to start the mix, and pick your favourite Steyoyoke tracks to go with it. Usually my releases lean more towards peak time, and aren't the type of tracks you would pick to start a mix, especially if you want it to build.  So this was a great opportunity to create an opening track, something to set the tone of the mix. Steyoyoke has been very consistent over the years, with a clear direction and sound, so there was an abundance of releases to choose from for the rest of the mix, all of which gel perfectly together.”

'What the hell is going on here?', you ask yourself after a few bars listening to „Devil“ - the name says it all! 

With united forces, Betoko, Rafael Cerato and Liu Bei created a magical, fancy and touching Tech-House-piece, which succeeds in realizing the rare fusion of functional track and classical song literally weightlessly. The emotional singing of Liu Bei floats over a subtle synthy arpeggio, which astounds us by its unusual metric: It is partly in five-four meter and also transports something unearthy, supernatural.

Dubmix and Instrumental certainly turn the energy screw towards club use, but also keeping the mystical atmosphere. And with „Abrazo“ finally comes a cool B-Track by the producer team Betoko & Rafael Cerato, reminding on 80s-synthpop highlights. 

The two guys have some more in common besides their cooperation: Both already released solo projects on Einmusika, Diynamic and Get Physical. Mexican born Betoko lives in London, where he also runs his labels OKO Recordings and Chilli Mint Music. 2012 he had a massive hit on Diynamic with "Raining Again“. Rafael Cerato lives and works in Aix en Provence, Liu Bei again also in London.

Dear Deer Records continue their excellent 2018 with another essential new EP, this time from Rory Gallagher & James Trystan and including a remix from Jonas Saalbach. Rory Gallagher & James Trystan are a UK pair making real waves with their epic tunes on labels like John Digweed’s legendary Bedrock. 

The Young One is the superb original and is a deep track with whirring machines and sombre chords. Filtered vocals bring a sense of darkness and intimacy and the whole thing rolls late into the night. As the synths unfold, they bring real emotion to the track and ensure this one will leave a lasting impression on the club. 

Bedrock associate Jonas Saalbach remixes the track into a more synthetic and minimal track with molten melodies and hiccuping drums. It’s one for the mind as much as the feet and has gorgeous synths and melodies raining down from above at the midpoint. 

These are two terrific tracks that prove Dear Deer is setting a fine agenda right now.

After a solid output releases last year, including his debut album 'Gebruikerssporen' on Cinematique Records and his well received Glen McKenna single on Manual Music, Aiden (@aadhoppie) seems to have vanished back into obscurity in the last couple of months, as if he has returned to his bunker to think of what brilliant and original new musical scheme to come with next.

Soon he'll make his official return with a remix he has done for Russian Linesman on his well respected Loki Recordings label, and he's cooking up the plans to launch his own label HuPu Records this year as well.

But right now we want to show you this seriously cool and unexpected remix he has made for All Saints. Loopy, gritty and with a proper dosage of acid house, you'd never expect to hear the All Saints in a warehouse rave setting, but Aiden did just that!
