Anjunadeep’s Simon Doty presents a pair of diverse remixes of gardenstate’s ‘1995’.

Canada’s Simon Doty is a rising star in the melodic house scene: he’s released four standout EPs on Anjunadeep, his latest being the four-track ‘Solaris EP’. Supported by Phil Taggart, Danny Howard, Gorgon City, Cassian, Jax Jones and Lane 8, Simon has also released on Knee Deep In Sound, Einmusika, and This Never Happened. He pays homage to vintage house and 90’s trance on his reworks of ‘1995’, aptly titled as the ‘Housed Up’ and ‘I Made Trance’ remixes.

gardenstate were formed after a chance meeting between Marcus Schössow and Matthew Felner. Their debut album ‘Inspirations’ was released on Anjunabeats in October 2021, following a string of well-received singles and a raved-up take on Above & Beyond and Zoë Johnston’s ‘No One On Earth’.

Marcus and Matt recently joined Above & Beyond in London for their Group Therapy 450 celebrations, and supported A&B on the Anjunafamily Reunion Tour across the U.S.A. gardenstate have also been active in the livestreaming realm, spinning music from ‘Inspirations’ and more from Fagradalsfjall Volcano, Iceland.

gardenstate’s ‘Inspirations’ is available to buy now on special edition 2x12” coloured vinyl from the Anjuna Music Store, with more remixes of the album dropping before the end of 2021.

‘Terre Promise’ is the debut album of the French electronic artist Blutch. Between nostalgia and melancholy in his native Brittany, a journey to the borders of electronica, breakbeat, house and IDM. Following in the footsteps of Rone, James Holden, Four Tet or Bicep, Blutch affirms with this manifesto his ability to draw meditative landscapes as well as dancefloor escapades, syntheses of multiple influences crossed over the course of a faultless career, from his first love, hip-hop and abstract beats, his house vinyls released on the Barbecue label remixed by the cream of the genre’s guardians, from the American legend Terrence Parker to the more confidential Red Rack’em and Strip Steve, or the adventurous new chapter he has begun to write on Astropolis Records since 2020 with ‘La Cité des Étoiles’, remixed by the great Michael Mayer.

‘Terre Promise’ continues his unique trademark: smooth and inventive textures, vocals that caress and embrace you, percussive and contemporary rhythms with an immersive sound design and those catchy gimmicks he’s known for.

By immersing us in his memories, Blutch opens the doors to the landscapes of his childhood and dreamed views, through a plural sound palette: UK dance music heritage (‘Cobalan’, ‘River’), contemplative tracks (‘Les Bois’, ‘Terre Promise’), contemporary IDM with pop contours (‘Poplar’, ‘Rosko’, ‘Eusa’), or crossovers with other instrumentalists (Mirabelle Gillis’ violins on ‘Choices’ and ‘Cobalan’, guitar and drums on ‘Phoenix’ or the piano on ‘Poplar’) and danceable odes (‘Floatin’, ‘Les Sables Blancs’ or ‘Remparts’ with Maxime Dangles).

A promising debut album, as atmospheric as it is frenetic. Driven by the desire to bring people together and reconnect with the earth, Blutch invites you on a deep and spiritual introspective journey, where the listener can easily imagine the producer intention. And if not, just attend the a/v live accompanied by the sublime visuals of motion designer Romain Navier for an electrifying experience, between coloured or abstract 3D and images of landscapes captured in Blutch’s North Brittany. A live show that has already enchanted Panoramas in Morlaix, Clujotronic in Romania with other dates to come (Astropolis, Paris, ...).

Full of emotions, this beautiful, sincere and intense album is enough to send Blutch to the top of the electronic music scene in France. The impressive list of collaborations and remixes around the album is proof of this, with major artists of the French electronic music scene such as Jennifer Cardini, Maxime Dangles, Lauer, Madben, Maud Geffray or Mézigue, emerging artists such as Malcolm (Global Warming Records), or from acoustic music such as violin player Mirabelle Gillis.

Rose Ringed is back with hyper energized EP Broken Belief with a new dimension

Rose Ringed returns with a new ultra-high energy, upbeat EP on his imprint Closed Eyes Recordings, but this time packing a more spiritual punch. Broken Belief will dance your feet bare and have your hands in the air, while brilliantly examining the conflict of free will with religious belief. Have faith – the Amsterdammer multi-instrumentalist DJ/producer can do it, while adding a few extra zeros-worth of new disciples to his massive streaming stats.

The 3 tracks chart the struggle between the sacred and the secular, using not only his signature genre-busting, hyperspeed euphoric style, but also the powerful sounds of choral vocals and thunderous organ notes. There is a clear progression through the EP. 

Lost Religion: stunning choral notes open before fast, madly dancey note progressions and bags of slap-happy beats build compulsively to a breakdown of angelic voices, as spirit and free will ecstatically fight it out. ‘The first time I played it live it amazed me how people reacted. The big break makes everyone wonder what’s to come, then when the main hook comes back in everyone is feeling the tension, the drop into the heavy subbase and steady groove makes everyone fist pump like a madman every time I play it.’ 

Leap of Faith: the choir start strong, deep and portentous with a heavy drum beat, before frenetic, insanely fast 80s electronica kicks down the doors. Breakdown brings back the voices and organ, before the synths start to really sing, with a joyful, high note melody like an electronic vox humana. ‘Every time the big break with the organ chords comes in people lose it! A perfect track to enter the night. We take these leaps of faith to fulfil our dreams, to give us purpose.’

Where Have You Been: drum and hi-hat at breakneck speed with buzzing synths and bass hit us first, the choral voices now fully synthesised into glorious harmony. ‘The silence before the big synth drop has everyone screaming and cheering. When the drop hits you can actually hear people say: “WOWW”. I just can’t control myself putting my hands in the air throughout this track!’ 

And neither will you – believe!

Itaka stands for ‘influence’. On this album you can hear the different influences cities, countries, styles and artists had on me. In the 20 years I’m DJing and producing I developed my taste in music by traveling the world, meeting new people, seeing old friends and listening to new artists but also the living legends among us, which I tried to translate into this album. 

I began producing the album early 2020 in Prague, right after my last gig before the lockdown. And now, things in clubland are opening up little by little and it’s time to get it out in the open…

Madloch's Sound Avenue imprint opens the Spring season by presenting the fifth installment of it's 'Correlation' series. Released in August of 2017, the inaugural edition featured a unique blend of untapped talent along with industry veterans, resulting in a cohesive fusion of artists from across the world. The label's borderless music policy was also well represented, showcasing a wide spectrum of electronica, from organic house to melodic house and deeper progressive grooves. Released in 2020, the label's third edition landed with resounding success, as the lead selection 'Kafka' by Ercos Blanka racked up over two and a half million Spotify plays across the year. In past editions, Sound Avenue has kept the track selection concise, with an average of just ten submissions making the final release. The continued growth of label affiliates 3rd Avenue, Crossfade Sounds, and Future Avenue have propelled the label's demo submissions exponentially across the last year. Add to that, a continually expanding music policy, and the 2022 edition of ‘Correlation' was finalized with a hefty thirty-two selections. Added to the label's club-centric sounds are shades of electronica, dubbed out techno, and more, making the fifth installment of the series it's most far-reaching and satisfying to date.

Sound Avenue opens 2022's second quarter with a new single from label boss https://soundcloud.com/madloch and frequent studio partner https://soundcloud.com/subnode. Now approaching four years in their creative partnership, the Belgian duo had a noteworthy 2021, releasing two well-received singles across the year. September saw Madloch and Subnode deliver their 'A Short Moment' to commemorate Another Life Music's one hundredth release. Backed by remixes from Petar Dundov and Zoi (CA), it was quickly followed by what was arguably the duo's most enigmatic work to date in 'Utopia'. Landing in October amidst support from Eelke Kleijn, Laurent Garnier and Nick Warren, the sleek yet powerful creation received remixes from iconic duo Hernan Cattaneo and Soundexile, along with rising Aussie talent Microlot. Now, presenting their first project of 2022, Madloch and Subnode return to Sound Avenue with the much anticipated 'Bariloche', alongside remixes from Jean Caillou and Fabian Balino.

The release concludes with Fabian Balino returning to the label and providing the second and final interpretation of 'Bariloche'. Born in New York but raised in Uruguay, Fabian Balino is no stranger to the Sound Avenue label family, having released five originals and a remix since his debut via 2021's 'Correlation' Vol. 4 collection. Also, an accomplished DJ, the New York resident has taken his groovy sound to the city's nightlife, performing at PHD Dream Downtown, XVI Rooftop and 1Oak, where he supported international star Felix Da Housecat. Continuing to build a bond with Sound Avenue, Fabian now returns to the label with a groovy take on 'Bariloche'. Tempo and drive come up a touch as the piece takes shape, with siren-like tones and wavering sonics creating an air of anticipation. More enthralling yet is a heartfelt harmonic wave, gently rising as percussion flickers off in the distance, with the second of two breaks drawing closer. Tranquil tones and dulcet chord stabs intertwine as the interlude evolves, eventually reaching an understanded apex and soaring, key changing finale. A sensational interpretation from Fabian, making for a successful Sound Avenue return for himself, Jean Caillou, Madloch and Subnode.
