Somniloquist is the alter ego for Branko Novakovic, a producer who is based in Cologne Germany and has releases under his belt on well respected underground labels such as Oliver Schories' SOSO and Kunsthandwerk. He made his debut within the Manual family earlier this year with the release of 'Modern Times' on the 'Seasons | Winter 2015' sampler. Whilst great, the appearance on that V/A EP was merely an introduction of what was to come, and now is the time that we present to you his MNL single debut, 'Flowerized'!

'Flowerized' is one of those songs that has the potential to crossover to various genres. Is it melodic techno, is it progressive house or is it deep house? It's all of that and more as far as we're concerned. Deep and moody, yet funky and dance floor friendly 'Flowerized' will leave a lasting impression- and will find it's way into many DJ sets for sure!

On remix duties we welcome Talul from the city of Dresden, Germany. He's been turning heads lately and gaining massive support with his releases on imprints such as Parquet Recordings, Ostfunk and Stayoyoke to name a few and his remix proves why this man has built up quite the fanbase already. Quality stuff! The other remix is done by Moritz Guhling (Dortmund) who you might know from his previous appearances on both Manual Music and MNL. The Kunsthandwerk label boss delivers a more intimate, stripped down remix here, a great addition to the single.

A powerful package with three artists from Germany all stepping up their game and delivering the goods!

With a #1 Hype Machine record under his belt, San Francisco's Lane 8 has been a star of the 2013 underground with support from Majestic Casual, BBC Radio 1's B.Traits and tastemakers across the board. 

Off the back of a release on French Express and "Be Mine", one of the many highlights on #1 iTunes Dance album "Anjunadeep 05", Lane 8 aka Daniel Goldstein returns to the label with two classy deep grooves that merge his unique melodic textures with a new vocal leaning.

Sounding like a cross between Tale Of Us, French Express and Cyril Hahn, lead track "The One" is a slow-burning, deep melodic gem with Patrick Baker's vocals adding an extra layer of catchiness. With early support coming from Pete Tong on BBC Radio 1 and The Magician on his infamous Magic Tape series, "The One" already looks like a future Lane 8 classic.

Showcasing Daniel's versatility, the more indie-pop flavoured "Nothing You Can Say" features the wistful, uplifting vocals of hotly tipped songstress Lucy Stone alongside a melodic, summery electronic dance backing. 

After the success of Sonnentanz, one of 2013's biggest dance tracks, Klangkarussell turn in a monster of a remix of "The One". Having built up a reputation for delicate feel-good melodies, they showcase a much darker side on this one, with a no nonsense beast full of raw bass and distorted vocals.

Matthias Tanzmann - Reframed (RAR Remix - preview)

Linea Nigra is the follow up to DJ Puk's MNL debut last year when he dropped his best selling Delivery Job on the label. Where Delivery Job got accompanied by a remix by Noraj Cue, the new Linea Nigra gets a rework by another Dutch artist; JSPR.

Produced in his trademark slow moving but raw and intense sound, Linea Nigra is one of those tracks that will fit the sets of many, whether you're a deep house, tech house or progressive house DJ as it blends elements of all those genres.

Rotterdam's own JSPR turns things up a notch in his rework, using the main theme and transforming it into a full on late night melodic techno bomb.

‘Mindfulness’, the new album from Max Cue, is well-named. Watchful and attentive are characteristics high on the agenda of Antwerp’s Andy Verschaeren, letting loose a set of deep house and techno whose perpetual breeze and clear-mindedness is sourced from uncluttered, neatly layered and direct production.

Five years on from the chunkier techno/tech house push of ‘Define Life’, and having collected recognition from Laurent Garnier, Hernan Cattaneo, Paul Oakenfold and Sasha, Cue’s one-time spinning of darker beats are re-circulated here, married to his long-time association with all things trance and techno. So for all the album’s widescreen lucidity, possessing an ease of acceleration that allows him to cruise with edge-smoothing energy, ‘Mindfulness’ also comes tinged with more pointed elements of distrust and sorrow.

The longing strings of the title track display Verschaeren’s ever present balance of elegance, ambience and urgency, and ‘Emptiness’ adheres to traditional mind, body and soul theory with its simple but emotionally connected chord changes, backed by trance illumination to make hairs stand to attention. ‘Feuerzeug’ and ‘Violated’ on the other hand toughen up with steelier attitude blotting and penetrating the views from space, just to keep you on your toes should your head be straining to stay above the clouds.

With an early electro influence calculatedly making its presence felt on ‘Triangle’ and promoting Cue as a formulator of strange new worlds, ‘Mindfulness’ consistently lays down an atmospheric comfort that can just easily go the other way and have you start biting your fingernails. See the warm fronts of ‘Isolation’ transform into acid-attacked intensity, akin to the album polishing its halo before getting its feet dirty. Don’t worry though, it’s ‘Nothing Personal,’ the album’s bristling first single which features remixes from Groj and Luis Junior.

The symbols of sensory elevation, with the likes of ‘Patience’ bringing to mind time lapse videos of clouds and traffic flying past in an invigorating swirl, allow ‘Mindfulness’ to stream from speakers from the comfort of your home while attacking the open air of the Balearics.

The MNL versus series returns with two fresh new sparkling tracks. After having introduced Mees Dierdorp and Ivan Picazo a year and a half ago, this time we welcome Funkbrainer (Toulouse, France), known from releases on labels such as Blendwerk, Monique Musique and Yin Yang, who teams up with fellow Frenchman Kokenn. 'Liberta' is a warm melancholic journey into sound and feels like a warm blanket on a cold winter day.

The other track on this versus EP is done by Ukrainian producer Gvozdini from Particles/Balkan Connection fame. His song 'Hypnotized' is a psychedelic mind trip, pumping and funky as hell! A perfect DJ tool for everyone who likes a proggy edge to their DJ sets.

It is hard to believe that it has been a full three years since our great friend Paul Ritch last featured on SCI+TEC with his awesome Circus EP. Well, he's back and bringing us a truly epic new single… PULSE.

With its machine gun snare and omnipresent bass pulse, the eleven minute (to the second) monster begins. The firing rounds of the drum and intense single note synth spark a flurry of sound before the track drops again with Ritch creating a chasmic feel, greatly enhanced by the hollow bongo riff that seems to echo within the great expanse.

Ron Costa takes on the remix challenge. Tightening the track with his thumping kick drum and vocal tricks, he creates a ripping groove that perfectly complements Paul's original.

Suicide Ghost is a mystery, even to us. All we know is that the guy behind it comes from Brussels, Belgium. His music is increasingly complex as it gets more personal, carrying with it a sea of emotions, able to turn melancholy into desire.

We received these two tracks in our demo folder a couple of months ago and instantly fell in love with them. Both 'T&L' and 'Close My Eyes' (featuring Dutch vocalist 3V3sound) have a deep, mystique and warm vibe surrounding them, cleverly reinforced by the dream-like vocals.

Get acquainted with Suicide Ghost, and remember where you've heard him first.. that's right: on Manual Music!

Number 6 of Estroe's Rosedale Records brings you a release by Estroe herself.

The titles of the tracks expresses Estroe's love for nature. Myosotis Arvensis (Field Forget Me Not) and Tanacetum Parthenium (Feverfew) are two of her favourite flowers which bloom in June, the month of the release date.

Two highly regarded friends and fellow producers were invited for the remix honours, Berlin based Glitterbug and (music) BFF Nadia Struiwigh.

Estroe's original mix of Myosotis Arvensis starts with a simple but intriguing bassline and slowly builds amidst delicate, melodic patterns and lush, orchestral strings as if the flowers themselves are opening one by one. Her natural sense of groove prevails in the bassline throughout this meadow of fresh, early summer sound.

Tanacetum Parthenium (original) has an edgier feel to it. Again it is groove driven by a distinctive bassline but is awash with a tense, almost organic background and with darker percussive shots. Brooding orchestral swells bring to the track a sense of salient anxiety.

Glitterbug's Desperate Times remix of Myosotis Arvensis has an orchestral and cinematic quality. Deep sustained bass notes and a fluid and metallic rhythm drive this track along elegantly. The smooth solemn strings and glistening pads wrap this track in a cloak of sonic grace.

His other remix on the ep, Glitterbug's That Very Moment remix is a sublime piece of aural architecture. Ambient, emotional and with a heartbeat bass drum, it encapsulates the very moment one is struck by the tranquillity of seeing something beautiful. The strings in this track ebb and flow like serene breaths of cool air whilst the soft piano shimmers like early morning dew.

Always one to explore the deeper side of a track, like a botanist in a lab, Nadia Struiwigh dissects the original Tanacetum Parthenium and creates a remix which exemplifies her style. She creates a dark and pulsating mix of throbbing bass drums, cavern like reverbs and ominous, overdriven grooves that build the track perfectly.

Stephan Bodzin is back with his first LP since 2007. The 'Powers of Ten' will be released in June on his own Herzblut imprint and it contains a deeply personal sound. The artist says the LP is "an homage to Bob Moog, full Techno beats and sounds and space and party and ecstasy and dancing and listening and crying and feeling". After the first track of the album, 'Singularity' already made it into our Top 10 Releases In May, we are now lucky enough to premier 'Zulu' for you. The ghostly grooves of this track with the typical Bodzin sound, crisp claps and synth is made for peak moments in clubs and on summer festival stages.
