There is so much good and new music out there right now, and we went solo in the box to explore it all! Two hours of euro balearic, fresh chug, new beat, deep house and prog. All the good stuff ✌️

Adventures in Paradise with Manuel Darquart

Hollering from the deep south of New Zealand a sound is pumping through the Earth, all the way through to Europe via Munich, then to Berlin and now its travelling to the UK and beyond. That sound is the Big Beat Manifesto. A sound that Mr. Eden Burns has produced to us over 6 volumes and all pressed to wax via the loving hand of Public Possession. This cross over of addictive club sonics and balearic undertones has seen the likes of Solomun, Jennifer Cardini, Jamie Tiller, Huge DJ Party Alerts, Gerd Janson and more taking various systems worldwide for the test drive of their lives with these sounds. Aside from producing these melodies Eden has deemed himself quite the DJ with Boiler Room(a personal favorite of ours), club and festival appearances galore. For this mix Eden picks some of his favorite club cuts but guides us through an hour which seems to be a summary of a set that could easily go into the 4 hour mark. A fine calling card. We had a quick chat with Eden about what hes been up to a little about the mix:

Roots are usually the image from nature we use to define one's attachment to some sort of existence, be it a place or time. A trait we deem a necessity, mostly in a world so vast and diverse that everything in it becomes fluid, so someone needs to be attached to something in order to not be swept away by the constant flow of reality. But some people adopt this fluidity as their very identity, first as a person and then as an artist. Such is the case with our guest for this episode, an earthling whose origins are rooted in many places, yet not fixed in any. Rakim Under’s artistic persona is richly informed by the multifarious soil that an upbringing in constant transit as the offspring of global parents can provide, but it is his take on this varied background that makes all the difference. As we can clearly hear in this mix, it fuels a restless creative energy that links many sounds with constancy and informs a logic that manages to sustain an enthralling narrative with coherence.  The result is a deeply personal expression of the interconnectedness of our own musical culture.
