A fine rendition of instrumental smooth-jazz with great arrangements that are very well orchestrated by a wide variety of musical influences. A rich and dynamic structure where the guitar seems to dance around in the sounds that are both soothing and captivating. A nice work of art!

Smooth Jazz / RENDEZVOUS

This is the 11th tune coming from my 13 song suite called ''Celebrating life'' that I composed and interpreted by the last 4 months of 2012. As you know, I am reposting all these songs (only 2 left :) with a new guest collaborator and rename the suite ''Celebrating life with friends''

For this posting, I have a great saxophonist in Santi Caballero! Santi is an experienced musician who takes is time to develop his solo and the result is flabbergasting ! I don’t know if he is an angel but I know one thing, each note is choosing to play bring us in the same direction: heaven :) He plays magnificently the theme song on soprano and plays his super doper solo on tenor! 

Here is the story behind this tune:

September 20th, 2012 was a very important day for me because I got to my 6th treatment which was mid-way to my chemo treatment and psychologically it was an important step: finally, I was starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel ... a feeling of relief and out of breath ... which creates this song of relaxation.

It's a song that has some shades of folk song because the guitars are playing  finger picking during the theme song and the song becomes jazz style for the solos because the piano who is playing in complete freedom.

I hope you enjoy this song as much I did while doing this collaboration

Here's a wonderful new collaboration with two great musicians - Irina on  Ella Fitzgerald inspired dreamy vocals and Iarina on the sultry latin bossa nova style acoustic guitar.  Has been a joy to create this together.  Congrats too to Irina for recently receiving an award for the UK's #1 jazz composition and recording in under 18 age - it's another real beauty,

I’m Manuel Muzzu, Born in Sardinia, island in the middle of mediterranean sea
(Italy) on 06/25/1967, I fell in love with a bass guitar when I was 12 years old.
Graduate on M.I. Los Angeles in 1994 and U.M. Rome in 1997. I have an handicap
on my right hand due to a mistake by the doctors when i was six years old. That
prevent me to use all fingers and wrist. In effort to overcome my disability I
worked hard to find my own technique to play like a normal player, just because
passion is much stronger than destiny. I’m a musician, composer, session and
studio player with over 25 years of experience and many musical collaborations,
including “Tazenda” live band, Monica Naranjo, Tom Porcaro and many others. My
songs are inspired by all different sounds I manage to extract from my basses in a
different jazz styles. Basically I like to play the music I’m interested in, starting by
jazz (fusion jazz, smooth jazz, latin jazz, rock jazz, funk jazz, electronic jazz)
where the lead instrument is the bass guitar. You can call it Fusion, maybe it is.
