He Fired First is a high-octane folk punk trio known for their barnstorming live shows, blending raw energy with heartfelt songwriting and a rebellious edge. Fronted by Will on lead vocals, guitar, and stomp box, the band also features Dom with his unmistakably bouncy upright bass style, and Nick—formerly of folk punk band Smokey Bastard—on mandolin, accordion, bouzouki, and backing vocals.

Originally launched as Will’s solo project, He Fired First built a solid foundation supporting acts like the Dub Pistols, Gaz Brookfield, and Owen Paul, while earning spots on major festival lineups including Boomtown 2024, Guilfest 2022 and 2024, and Weyfest 2023.

The current lineup was brought together through country singer-songwriter Nicole Allen, whose introduction sparked a unique musical chemistry that turned the solo project into a full-force band. While they most often perform as a trio, He Fired First sometimes appears as a duo or with Will playing solo—no matter the lineup, the show is always charged with undeniable energy, emotion, and a powerful connection to the crowd.

With songs that range from raw and personal to unapologetically political, He Fired First speaks for the underdog—amplifying voices that too often go unheard. Their sound blends punk grit with folk heart, offering anthems of resistance, resilience, and rebellion that connect deeply with audiences everywhere.

I love singing, playing flute, ukulele and banjolele, writing poetry and songwriting.
 I enjoy writing songs with lots of imagery and enjoy forming lyrics from poetry and using extended metaphor. Musically, I am not sophisticated but enjoy making songs that are upbeat, with lots of hooks. I sing all kinds of music - acapella and acoustic folk, R&B,  jazz, rock, pop, indie.  I often warm up my voice by singing Sam Brown's huge power R&B song  "Stop"

I'm a singer, songwriter and composer. My songs have been broadcast on local radio, the Janice Long Show on BBC Radio 1 and have guested on the John Peel Show on BBC Radio1. My compositions have been broadcast on Channel 4 and BBC2. I perform and record all of my music in my studio in Headley, Hampshire, England.

Hailing from Woking, UK, Billy spent his formative years playing gigs in an around London including a successful run of solo shows at the now defunct Mean Fiddler in Harlesden.

Drawing inspiration from time spent in some of the remotest parts of the UK, it was in fact a four week journey through the Highlands of Scotland that proved to be the catalyst for Billy's most recent songwriting.

Billy says 'four weeks is a long time to spend walking! I had a lot of time to think about places I'd seen, people I'd known, family, friends, hearth and home etc'. This years EP release (YOUR HEART WEARS IT WELL) comes directly from that inspiration'.

Expect Billy's debut album in the Spring of 2021.
