In Balkans folklore, a DHAMPIR (also "dhampyre, dhamphir, dhampyr") is a creature which is the result of the union between a vampire and human. 

What we are related to are the Moroi, a cousin race, which is a general unrested corpse/phantom which may take on monstrous or animal forms and feed on human essence (blood and organs) for sustenance. They are also commonly living dark witches with black pacts who seek power.

Moroi are also often conflated with Strigoi, who are the creepy ghoulies
