So.. first off i guess this mix wouldn’t exist if my man Kamau Ware hadn’t ask me to make it for him. He was having an event where some out of town poets were coming through and he wanted some music to play at a reception or something. I always wanted to make a mix of poems from hiphop albums.This is not that. But This does contain the song that made me want to make a mix like that.. “My City” from Common Sense’s “One day It’ll All Make Sense” by Malik Yusef.
    This ended up being a pretty straight forward  mix of hiphop and poems that just happened to be in the crates that i had behind the booth in AVA. Not very thought out at all, just had to knock it out real quick, nothing fancy, just good music and words. Since i’m finding this mix a few years later, i don’t have a complete set list, it goes from last poets to de la to mr lif to nathan james to X-Clan to Sonia Sanchez to cee lo to mums to ...
