Balloon was born during one of those beautiful but chaotic moments in life — a quick escape to Bali squeezed between a demanding work week and an intense leadership assignment for my master’s. We stayed at Terra Cottages, this warm terracotta-colored haven above Bingin Beach — soft ochre walls, bohemian textures, and the scent of salt and fresh fruit in the air. It should’ve been relaxing, but everything was happening at once: first time meeting our wedding planner face to face, tasting cakes and cocktails for our big day, juggling deadlines, trying to stay grounded.

The track starts with an off-beat Ngoni — a bit unstable, slightly off center, like I felt at that moment. My mind was buzzing with to-dos, readings, and reflections about leadership and staying close to what matters. I had an assignment due Sunday at midnight, and I wasn’t sure how I’d make space for it all. But then something shifted. We got into flow. We ticked things off. Laughed over tastings. I found stillness by the pool with a drink and a highlighter. And somewhere in between, I hit record on the sound of our room's door hinge — this rusty little creak that became the heartbeat of the drums.

Balloon is that journey from feeling like everything’s floating apart, to rising with joy. It moves from tension to release, from pressure to presence. It’s a track about letting go — about that moment when stress dissolves and you realize you’re exactly where you need to be. Light, connected, moving upward.
