FAT-zig022 Taron-Trekka - Pourpre Sable EP

When the rush wears off, relaxation sets in. It figures. Yet, it is not easy to strike the right chord for every era musically. Taron-Trekka is familiar with both: the exhilarating turmoil and pushing of a club night as well as the soothing decay and the eager beginning of the night. One simply hears this in their countless tracks. The new EP “Pourpre Sable” focuses on the beginnings and the endings: when things go calmer, continuously or reconvened, when conversations, thoughts and memories mingle with gliding grooves, when the synapses are fully attuned to deepness.
 
However, the three tracks are not making do with reduced, dimmed house arrangements – despite those very three being a truly big deal in terms of deepness. No way, Taron-Trekka have snatched Violet Starfish.  Their casual, yet almost intimate singsong gives the tracks a spoken word profundity that will melt in one’s mouth. Never intrusive, never put-on. Instead, subtly entangled with the grooves and chords. Storytelling on and beside the dancefloor.

”Okular“
In decelerated fashion, ”Okular“ shifts through entwined string sections, flushed by a few brightly flashing key strokes on the synth. In addition, a brief smile from Violet Starfish. Super deep.

”Shera“
The atmosphere remains dimmed, but the bass drum is a lot tighter. ”Shera“ focuses on field recordings of a distant road, on few, concise sounds and the voice of Violet Starfish. Is this the prime time peeking out or can we expect any more to happen today?

”The Willow Tree“
A track with classical potential. Gently vibrant house chords amid dynamic bass drums and percussions, Violet Starfish at its best. A shimmer in the air and all of a sudden, the sun is flooding the floor with all its warmth.

German DJ and producer André Hommen is known for his deep and forward thinking musical approach. For his latest remix the These-Eyes label owner combines pop elements from Sailor & I's original version with subtly inserted synth-chords that on the one hand schmooze Sailor & I's vocals and on the other hand harmonize smoothly them, without taking away their needed space to enfold. The result is a remix that works either on the dance floor or anywhere else. Chapeau!

PREMIERE : Meliha - Lone Ranger (Kris Davis Remix)[Soul De Anima]

This track came from a visit to Rob Clouth's place in Barcelona a while back, and ended up on my Essential Mix. I've been wanting to release it for a while, and a lot of people have been asking about it too, so it's great to finally get to put it out along with the "World Passing By" EP, here: https://lnk.to/WorldPassingByEP

Rob Clouth is one of my favourite producers out there. He's one of the few producers, that when I listen to his music, I don't know how he's made it......so I was excited to go and hang out at his place and work on a track together and see his process first hand. As it turns out, his unusual music is reflected in his unusual process, which makes sense, even though I hadn't realised the obvious previously.

For this one, Rob had the idea of running a soft synth through a radio transmitter and back into a receiver, sometimes then looping it back through, while he played chords, and I messed around with the radio tuning, bringing moments of hiss, and sometimes little bits of real radio channels into our chord sequence. 

The track then turned into a slow techno sort of thing, where the chords are gradually introduced further and further until it turns into an intense chord solo extended outro (which is nice for bringing a sparse percussive track into for live shows, I've found).

Rob also has some new work coming soon on Mesh, which is insanely good, and which I'm really excited about releasing!

Heathered Pearls - Under The Bridge [First Floor Premiere]

Good things take time – ideally, including a great deal of oomph. At least when it concerns new tracks from within Monkey Maffia’s inner circle. It has been four whole years since we received the momentary last piece of the “Monkey Maffia Music Club”, 12 inches full of funky nasty beasts dedicated to the best dancefloors of this world. In the meantime, a remix was released here and a track was presented there, but now we may once again enjoy a full load of Monkey Maffia. And on top of that the now 75th release of Freude am Tanzen!
Monkey Maffia is personally providing the soundtrack for this ceremonial occasion. His tracks continually supply tremendous amounts of oomph to parties as well as loads of gravity and funk. After all, as an experienced DJ he simply knows what an awesome night looks like – a straight bass drum fractured while simultaneously amplified with infinitely warm synths. On one track, bass and percussion are throwing all our worries overboard, on the next one pads and vocals are shimmering to the bet. Whatever may happen, it can be said with utmost certainty that it will never become boring on either secular flat earth.

A1 – Bad Or Good?
A total brain and leg screw, that spins and spins and spins. Any DJ willing to test how much funk a dancefloor can bear up to the third decimal place, will be perfectly served with this track as proof.

A2 – Fake Heroes
Short reminder, but detailed clattering minimal with soul does still exist. At first, “Fake Heroes” frostily shines through aerial heights; however, then submerges all the more into unforeseen depths.

B1 – MiniMi
Somehow jazzy, but was meant as house. Similarly hypnotic, equally free. Common thread is the bass drum, along which anything is possible. File under: secret weapon for truly late hours and DJs with guts.

B2 – Schörless
This is a track that sends Larry Heard on an Orient trip and thereby extends over a much longer period than its brief four-and-a-half-minute length. For all those who are still serious about “deep” in house.

Here at Respekt we can't say no to titanic collaborations, so a Spektre & Subfractal gang seemed right up our alley. The original mix rolls effortlessly with some busy percussion and a catchy spoken word sample, with synths reminiscent of the purer Techno days of yore. Wonderfully loopy, "Prosthetic Consicence" hits all the right spots with pure class.Continuing strong with the Bodscrub remix, dark overtones take over via crunchy effects and moody stabs. Meanwhile, haunting synths slowly take over and switch the vibe, while the rhythm section kicks and punches away.
