The Birth of Analog Geist

I was clearing space, making room for the new life about to enter my world. A baby on the way. Responsibilities piling up. In the quiet of an afternoon, I stumbled upon a dusty box filled with VHS tapes, video games, and cassettes. A forgotten time capsule.

One cassette caught my eye—no label, odd markings, just static etched in plastic. I played it, and that’s when it started.

The sound… it was familiar yet missing. A tune I swore I’d heard before, but couldn’t place. It slithered into my mind, twisting memories, pulling at fragments of dreams. It wasn’t just music—it was a presence. An earworm that I couldn’t let go.

At first, it was just me. But now, I swear others can hear it too. It’s as if the sound has escaped, phasing into reality.

I can’t stop. I became obsessed with recreating it—chasing that impossible, yet familiar melody. Each attempt feels closer, yet I’m stuck in a loop, lost in my own mind.

I am Analog Geist. 

A vessel for these sounds. A ghost trapped in static.

As one of the premiere DJs in Los Angeles, Marie Nyx has an unmatched ability to adapt to the wants and needs of any dance floor without sacrificing her infectious, apparitional style. Marie’s early influence of post punk, new wave, darkwave, and indie/alternative dance has inspired her sound to be raw and dark with gritty synth lines and driving grooves. Marie was named in the November issue of DJ Mag’s monthly Bubblers Series as one of six emerging acts to follow and is recognized for revered DJ sets around Southern California. Notable bookings include Crssd Festival and Fngrs Crssd events, the Mixmag Lab LA, and 6am Group events, where she’s played in direct support of artists such as Sven Väth, Marcel Dettmenn, Pleasurekraft, Dubfire, and Nastia.

In 2021, Marie co-founded her own hypnotic imprint, Delusional Records, with producer and live artist Maude Vôs. The fundamental goal of the label is to revive the roots of dance music culture by releasing timeless, hard-ware driven pieces of work created by an inclusive roster of artists; primarily LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, and female. Marie’s debut EP on Delusional hit the charts and caught the attention of many in the electronic industry. Since then, the label has been featured in SPIN Magazine, Insomniac Radio, EDM Maniac, and more.
