Orly Gal is a Los Angeles-based artist who is making waves not only in her local scene but also around Europe, while her productions have landed on Kaiserdisco's KD RAW as well as DZB Records.

Our premiere features the remix by Marie Nyx, an LA icon and influential figurehead of the scene. She's Delusional Records' owner, also releasing on Boysnoize Records and graced the likes of Mixmag Lab LA, Clinic Wednesdays, and Minimal Effort...

Day 17 The Village Call

Dark, atmospheric, and experimental, this mix is a haunting journey where each track weaves a web of introspection, pulling you into the underworld of the shadow self. The deep, pulsating basslines, eerie textures, and unsettling soundscapes reflect the intensity of confronting one's hidden fears, emotions, and desires. 

The mix is inspired and amplified by the intense energy of the most recent Blood Moon eclipse on 3/13/25. The Blood Moon's energy manifests in moments of tension and release, as the mix ebbs and flows between chaos and clarity. It's a sonic ritual—both meditative and intense—where the darkness becomes a powerful force for transformation and healing.

Trial/Error

Okay this one is probably definitely not going to be part of the Aulus-les-Bains EP, but I did make it there. One of my homework assignments, from Actress himself, was to dive into learning the M8 tracker I had brought along with me, and try to sync it up with the Ableton Move that was my main instrument. I eventually came up with this jam, recorded by propping my phone on the desk with a couple small speakers as I played it live, and that represents the peak of my time with the M8. (I donated mine to the school at the end of my stay.) With all the clicks and desk bumps, I don't think this is salvageable for proper release, but there's some stuff in the jam that I liked a lot...when you slow everything down to 20 bpm some cool stuff happens in the spaces. (I recorded the jam on my phone as a video, and then extracted the audio for this post.)

M8 and Move - Live Jam

Here's the full set from my Dub Circle performance live from the rotunda in Camperdown Park, Sydney recorded on Nov 9th 2019. This was my first ever live performance using laptop, Maschine and an additional controller.

Dub Circle is a project developed together with visual artist Gabrielle Bates, which aimed to activate the park and create a new, modern interpretation of traditional ritual. 

Over 18 months I recorded sounds from Camperdown Park and the surrounding block using various mics and a zoom recorder. Exclusively using these sounds I created riddims combining field recordings, found percussion and melodic elements to create the soundtrack for the event. I also recorded and used reverb convolutions from spaces around the park from alleyways, basketball courts, kids slides, etc. If you're curious about any particular sounds leave a comment in the set timeline and I'll get back to you on how it was sourced. 

Dub Circle was performed from the rotunda in the park during a stunning sunset on Nov 9th 2019 on Sydney's infamous Inner West Reggae Disco Machine Soundsytem, also built in the local area. Dancers and community members of all ages and walks of life participated in a procession & dance around the cricket oval. Costumes and masks had been created throughout the year by Gabrielle Bates and additionally through a series of local workshops with community schools in the area.
