This set is made up of my own unreleased music, and I think of it as an album.

In 2019, I released another album/set. https://soundcloud.com/robot-heart/jason-douglas-robot-heart-burning-man-2019. People have shared that it has been the soundtrack for deaths, births, first steps, ceremonies, and the beginning moments of every morning. 

This Dust is the follow-up, and I hope it lives as full of a life as the first one. As with many sophomore attempts, it was hard to push it out into the world.

It was written as a love letter to the burn during the insular months of the pandemic.  I was with my closest friends and family, traveling to a new town on the East Coast each month while writing this. I wrote until I tapped the well dry, something I didn’t know was possible. It turns out that making electronic music when there is nobody to play it for will eventually lead to writer’s block.

If you’re reading this, I discovered that your energy is more in my music than I realized. An “audience” doesn’t exist in electronic music in the traditional sense. Both the musician and the crowd are on equal footing. There is no social contract that you must listen politely to my set and clap.  You dance if it’s good. You listen if it’s good, and you are under no obligations if it’s not.  We both need to show up, or the thing doesn’t happen. It’s co-creation, and I learned that without the co-creators, my creativity has a limit.

It was a titanic effort to finish this, and an even harder one for me to release it. It was filled with obstacles and doubt. It contains my heartbreak, grief, sadness, and a hope for when I would see my way to the other side of that.

The ethereal, melodic, and at times, cinematic themes I’ve played with here and in my 2019 set feel explored. Something new is coming through that I have been experimenting with. I don’t have it yet, but I’m finding its edges. For now, I’m glad to have this out.

Hello everyone, this live dj set recording is from my latest gig at Istanbul's new shining club; Ladies Room at Pixi. A cozy and intimate experience indeed. 'Love You More [edit]' is taken from the forthcoming album: Nathan Haines - Notes (Deluxe Edition), featuring remixes, edits & live recordings alongside the tracks that originally appeared on the 2024 album Notes.

'Love You More' has a classic deep house sound, with Nathan's signature soprano sax recorded in one single take. The tack was co-witten by Nathan's long time collaborator Phil Asher, who tragically passed away in 2021.

He  was so alive and so ‘there’ as a person…it took me a few weeks to really grasp he wasn’t part of  this world anymore. Back in 2018, we came to Burning Man for the first time and we were instantly captivated by the endless and wild impressions of the desert, the art, the music, and above all: the people. It was the same year that, due to a lucky coincidence, we were invited to play a late-night set at Mayan Warrior. Within moments, we fell in love with the art-car and all the people surrounding it. We had a kind of musical epiphany there. So when we were formally invited to come back this year, playing a Thursday sunset concert, we didn't even have to think for a second. We were all hyped like crazy while at the same time feeling very humble about it. Visiting and playing at Burning Man, especially at this esteemed art-car, is something that really stood out in our lives so far. We will cherish this memory forever. It was the second time we played our hybrid live-set, but definitely not the last.

Marc Twins is not from a music-loving family. Nothing, as he approached his 12th birthday, made you think he would become a DJ with his own mobile disco, and that his deep love of the synthetic music of the time would lead him to choose an artistic career and create his own label. In 1992 he was at the there at the first gigs, with Laurent Garnier, Joey Beltram, Marco Zaffarano, Kenny Larkin, Oxia, Miss Kittin and so on. There were amazing mixing sessions with Laurent Hô and Manu le Malin. In 1996 after having taken part in several raves and mixed in a large number of clubs; Rex, An-fer, Batofar, Terminal Export etc., one thing led to another and as Marc Twins interest in composing grew he made his dream come true by recording his first tracks on Digital Records, his first label produced in association with friends. In 1998 he created his own label UMF/Weaked. As this label was not destined for recoding just himself Marc Twins managed two labels that recorded several artists. These were not simple walks in the park; they were uncompromising, which the artist may not have liked but were vital according to him. Marc Twins carries out his own work as an author/composer in between his other commitments in order to better help others artists. What could be better than the experience of one who understands them perfectly and is also multifunctional? A man of the shadows? He is still a regular DJ, one whose sets never leave anyone indifferent. His experience just as important as his CD wallets and mean that he can easily adapt to different moods whether it’s the club scene or a more intimate occasion. With a Techno background and an Electro purist, Marc Twins has, for a few years now, found his own musical identity. All influences and sounds are mixed with excellence and consistency. Always hard at work, his sets and his productions are all too rare for some. At thirty, and refusing to delegate any, Marc Twins is thinking about his album whose central theme will probably surprise. The story goes on.
