Sutil Records welcomes the established graphic designer Marçal Prats, who, after creating the label's acclaimed and award-winning initial identity, now joins the label's roster as its other facet: a music producer! 

Paying homage to the iconic 1987 Freestyle Music/Latin Freestyle hit by Company B, he has now infused "Fascinated" with a modern twist, pulsating baselines and thrilling rhythms, creating a sonic journey and delivering a captivating indie dance anthem that will transport you to the golden era of dance music. 

Added to the release, DJ/Producer, music selector and label honcho David Gausa, wanted to give his own vision by making two powerful remixes. A full vocal remix destined for pick-time club DJ sets, with an overwhelming breakdown of hands in the air, and a banging Dub Mix into an underground melodic house & techno format. I listened to so much music in 2022 compared to other years that creating a one-hour review has not been possible. Thanks to this extended playlist, I have been able to select tracks with such different moods, from the waving house baselines to the wide atmospheric progressive pads. Some included tracks were released before 2022; however, it was during this year that I discovered them. @alexorion and @matter  stand out again from this year's Deep Progressive House scene, while many new tracks from Argentina are getting my attention, especially @simonvuarambon and @ezequiel_arias.

On 14th July 2023, Marçal releases his latest production, 'Fascinated' paying homage to the iconic 1987 freestyle disco hit by 'Company B', Marçal has infused "Fascinated" with a modern twist, delivering a captivating dance anthem that will transport you to the golden era of dance music.

In 2002, Marçal Prats released his first techno-house remix of London singer and actress Linda John-Pierre's song 'Night People' by The Cat & Mr Cool. During the mixing and mastering process, he meets the prestigious DJ, producer, and radio host David Gausa (@davidgausa). Marçal began a long collaboration as a graphic designer for Gausa's brand-new house music label, Sutil Records (@sutilrecords-sutilvox).

Marçal started his interest in electronic music in the 80s, fascinated by High-Energy, Italo-Dance, and its hypnotic arpeggiated baselines. He was soon seduced by the birth of House Music and the crunchy 303 analogue sounds of Acid-House. In the mid-90s, during his first visit to London, he was again seduced by Drum&Bass, Big Beat, and IDM. In the first half of the 2000s, Deep Progressive House became his favourite electronic choice. Marçal continues combining his role as a designer with his devotion to music. As he works on new productions, he has released a series of DJ mixes where he brings together the tracks that have influenced him since the turn of the century.

Over the past two years, including 2023, I've set another personal record for the number of amazing tracks I've listened to. Distilling this extensive tracklist hasn't been easy; it is a compilation that works as a diary of the tracks that have resonated with me most profoundly, reflecting my deep, personal connection to each of them. 

As with previous editions, some of the tracks included were not released in 2023 but became relevant to me during this year. For instance, South Bloom's "Let Me In" and Mike Rish's "Reka" have been favourites since their release, and experiencing them live during 29th Sep Guy J's set at Night Tales, London earned their right place in this set. In planning the selection of tracks for the second half of the 2000s, I realized that my library is much more modest because of the rise of the Electro-House and the following Minimal-Techno—were not entirely of my devotion. In these years, new artists emerged like Eric Prydz, Deadmau5, Guy J, and Henry Saiz, who I continue to admire and follow nowadays. I have enjoyed including classic '80s and '90s vibes with 'Mr. Roboto', PKA 'Let Me Hear You Say Yeah' and Felix 'Don't You Want Me'.

In contrast to the 2000s, when I was in sync with the latest house and progressive trends, during the 2010 decade of super-star DJs and big room EDM hits, my likes were almost focused on Guy J's label Lost & Found, Anjunadeep's melodic house releases and Way Out West, which I have been following since their 1997's Ajare. BPMs dropped to 120, and the complex, atmospheric and delicate sounds were my place to go. Special mention to Meramek; I'm amazed how he works old-school House vibes to make it sound incredibly contemporary.

Marçal Prats is a newcomer Dj and producer. Originally from Barcelona, he is based in London following his endless aim for achieving new creative challenges. In addition to his productions and mixes, he is an established graphic designer.

On 14th July 2023, Marçal releases on Sutil Records (@sutilrecords-sutilvox) his latest production, 'Fascinated' paying homage to the iconic 1987 freestyle disco hit by 'Company B', Marçal has infused "Fascinated" with a modern twist, delivering a captivating dance anthem that will transport you to the golden era of dance music. Ten years before, in 2002, Marçal Prats released in Barcelona his first Tech-house remix for London singer and actress Linda John-Pierre's song 'Night People'. 

Marçal started his interest in electronic music in the 80s, fascinated by High-Energy, Italo-Dance, and its hypnotic arpeggiated baselines. He was soon seduced by the birth of House Music and the crunchy 303 analogue sounds of Acid-House. In the mid-90s, during his first visit to London, he was again seduced by Drum&Bass, Big Beat, and IDM.  In 1995, he won his first remix contest. In the first half of the 2000s, Deep Progressive House became his favourite electronic choice. Marçal continues combining his role as a designer with his devotion to music. As he works on new productions, he has released a series of DJ mixes where he brings together the tracks that have influenced him since the turn of the century.
