Tracklisting and Review:
Over the past two years, including 2023, I've set another personal record for the number of amazing tracks I've listened to. Distilling this extensive tracklist hasn't been easy; it is a compilation that works as a diary of the tracks that have resonated with me most profoundly, reflecting my deep, personal connection to each of them. 

As with previous editions, some of the tracks included were not released in 2023 but became relevant to me during this year. For instance, South Bloom's "Let Me In" and Mike Rish's "Reka" have been favourites since their release, and experiencing them live during 29th Sep Guy J's set at Night Tales, London earned their right place in this set. Similarly, with Marway's "Hypnos", while I had already featured the Eric Lune Remix on my https://soundcloud.com/undergroundcolombo/marcal-prats-underground-colombo-master-1 podcast, it was through the masterpiece set https://soundcloud.com/balance-series/balance-selections-245-ricky-ryan that I rediscovered the brilliance of the Original Mix. From 2023, I also highlight the top-notch quality of the releases from the labels @meanwhilerec and @themangoalley, among many others.

'A Year In Review' mix series brings together the tracks I connected most deeply with during that period. They aim to reflect on the electronic trends that have deeply influenced me and thus find inspiration for my future productions.

2023 — A Year In Review

Marçal Prats is a newcomer Dj and producer. Originally from Barcelona, he is based in London following his endless aim for achieving new creative challenges. In addition to his productions and mixes, he is an established graphic designer.

On 14th July 2023, Marçal releases on Sutil Records (@sutilrecords-sutilvox) his latest production, 'Fascinated' paying homage to the iconic 1987 freestyle disco hit by 'Company B', Marçal has infused "Fascinated" with a modern twist, delivering a captivating dance anthem that will transport you to the golden era of dance music. Ten years before, in 2002, Marçal Prats released in Barcelona his first Tech-house remix for London singer and actress Linda John-Pierre's song 'Night People'. 

Marçal started his interest in electronic music in the 80s, fascinated by High-Energy, Italo-Dance, and its hypnotic arpeggiated baselines. He was soon seduced by the birth of House Music and the crunchy 303 analogue sounds of Acid-House. In the mid-90s, during his first visit to London, he was again seduced by Drum&Bass, Big Beat, and IDM.  In 1995, he won his first remix contest. In the first half of the 2000s, Deep Progressive House became his favourite electronic choice. Marçal continues combining his role as a designer with his devotion to music. As he works on new productions, he has released a series of DJ mixes where he brings together the tracks that have influenced him since the turn of the century.
