I Can't Help It (If I'm Still In Love With You)

I had a marvellous opportunity a week ago to collaborate with my good friend Marcel Gauthier and compose this beautiful song.  Marcel is a master at his craft, a wordsmith and a recording technician as he managed to make me sound better than I actually am!!  It was so much fun to create something out of nothing, our creative juices were definitely flowing!!  This track also features my new Gibson Jackson Browne along with my Muth mandolin.

My second attempt at this composition.  I had issues with my first recording, there were quite a few things that bugged me.  So I thought "why not do it all over again"!  And this is it!  Added some wah to the guitar, but changed a few instruments (used Gibson Jackson Browne).

Here is a track I started writing a few weeks ago and it went through many revisions before i was satisfied with this version. It basically speaks about life as something akin to flying.  We all have to learn to embrace it, and enjoy every moment we have.

This is a song I composed about 12 years ago, always loved the lyrics (although I did a bit of tweaking) but never could have the courage to sing it. So, I dusted it off, drank a shot of courage, and here you are!

Walls Are Coming Down

I actually started writing this song about 3 years ago (yeah, it takes me awhile sometimes!!) and it changed many directions over the years.  I also had like the essence of it, but couldn't seem to tie it all together.  That is until today --- I picked my Larrivee and started to find the melody and the right words.  The recording has bass, 2 electric guitar tracks and an extra vocal track on the chorus.

When The Snow Turns To Rain

This a song I composed a few days ago, well at least the lyrics.  While I was taking my 4:30 AM tinkle, the music concept popped into my head and I had a basic idea what I wanted for a melody and music composition.  This afternoon, it all came together and this is the result.  A very simple, rootsy tune with just acoustic guitar (LV-05), mandolin and a hint of banjo.  Plain and simple and in the "a la John Prine" sound!

What Could Be Sadder

I recorded this one a day ago, but wasn't happy with the mix.  This one is better (new bass guitar track) and replaced some of the vocals trying to fix the flaws --- and yes, there are plenty of those especially after the 2:30 section of the song.  Oh well, I am an amateur and it shows!!

Age (remix)

One of the biggest influences in my music career (amateur career that is!) has been John Prine.  Since my university days, John was a true inspiration for me --- his sad songs touched my heart like no other and his funny happy songs made me laugh uncontrollably!  His passing really hit hard, the world lost one of the best there ever was. Period.  This is my tribute to him, a song a wrote a couple of days and only composed the music while I was recording it.  I think John had his hand on heart and my guitar!
