It's hard to overstate the impact this man and his label BBE have on our scene. Is it 25 years already? So many incredible moments that influenced generations of DJ's and music lovers. Pewrsonally I would have to cite the Strange Games and Funky Things series featuring legends DJ Spinna, Kenny Dope and Mr Thing. Jazzy Jeff's Hip Hop forever. Dimitri From Paris with several entries absolutly knocking the art of editing and remixing disco classics out of the park. Dilla's solo effort Welcome To Detroit (Thats just been re-released as a tasty 7" bundle). Kon and Amir's visionary Off Track series.... all of these have been game changing in their own rights but only make about 1% of the output of BBE. 
Obviously Pete has more dimensions to him than "just" A&Ring one of the most legendary labels there is but let's stick to the music and follow him on this week's journey as he kindly has contributed the latest addition to the series. Thank you and enjoy!

MY OH MY are a UK based production and DJ Duo with a shared love for big speaker shakin' bass driven house music. Individually we have toured the globe playing everything from legendary clubs to beach parties, warehouses to radio shows. MY OH MY are in the studio together now working on a series of singles coming winter 2015/16 alongside some huge profile remixes and putting the finishing touches to a multi deck DJ show coming your way in 2016.


Lumberjacks in Hell has been founded in 2010. Intimate Friends followed in 2013. For some people the difference or the need for distinction between these two is quite evident but to give you an idea. Lumberjacks is always 100% for the dance floor, inspired by the music from Chicago and Detroit which is not only reflected in the Artists we release. Intimate Friends is a headier affair. Soul, Hip Hop and House are all fair game. If you check the releases next to each other both labels have a distinct sound. And maybe a certain BPM range. This isn't saying that some of the music couldn't have appeared on either label but somehow it all makes sense to me. Junior Brown has been always around music his whole life. Growing up in the 80’s his parents often hosted basement parties with DJs spinning Funk, Soul, Disco, and Reggae. This musical influence at a young age lead Junior Brown to start spinning records in the 90’s, hosting club nights, and now co-owning 2 bars (The Bower and Red Star). Currently, he is the resident and host at the For Those Who Know... club night, which focuses on the sound of Soulful House, Deep House, and Disco! Since 2001, For Those Who Know... Saturdays has been an institution for many Edmontonian’s and out of towners. Over the years Junior Brown has played alongside DJs such as Frankie Knuckles, Louie Vega, Jellybean Benitez, Mark Farina, Osunlade, DJ Sneak, Felix Da Housecat, Claptone, Roy Davis Jr, and many more.
