Grandma is living in a retirement home for the old
Her family has money but not the means to care for her at home

See how life turns out for you!
Love your mom and father, too!

Grandma eats three meals daily in a room made up of antique chairs
She rarely has appetite and leaves most the food but no one’s ‘ware

See how life turns out for you!
Eat your meat and veggies, too!

Grandma hosts no one except the nurses with cold, pale, dry hands:
	They make her bed each morning
	They dress her while she’s squirming
	They hoist her in her wheelchair
They roll her here, there, everywhere
	They change her senior diapers
	They bathe her in the shower
	They give her pills to swallow
	They bed her til tomorrow

Grandma has no friends at the retirement home for the old
Residents tell her stories in which not a thing is ever told

See how life turns out for you!
Find good friends and keep them, too!

Someday you’ll be old, too!
Someday you’ll be alone, too!

Grandma plays bingo every Wednesday and Sunday after lunch
She always is winning but it never seems to amount to much

Practice bingo and rummy, too!

Grandma sits in bed waiting for visitors that never come:
	Her eldest is a royal bitch
	Her only son’s a narcissist
	Her middle is incompetent
	Her youngest is a bon vivant
	Her nephews are oblivious
	Her nieces are ridiculous
	Her friends are all sick and bed-rid
	Her husband’s dead, good luck for him

Grandma cries for the days when she could live her life all on her own
Recalls the past only fondly and laments the present with a moan

Care for body and mind, too!

Grandma will die in her retirement home for the old...

With influences ranging from the lofi pop of Guided by Voices, the gothic melodrama of Nick Cave, the glam of Bowie and the nakedness of Iggy Pop - this is Marc Freak.  Former frontman of Freak Circus and Dead Joe.  An experiment in DIY and lofi.  The odd bum note here, the even odder bum note there.  But with art do we care?
