The background for the inspiration of course is Homer and the tales on the Trojan war. But Kassandra does not tell a story – it’s a kind of a painting with an ancient scenery or maybe just a sketch: Kassandra in front of the burning city. And it could be a modern painting. We are in a distance of more than 3.000 years to the plot of the ancient tales – and still mankind has Kassandras and tears in front of burning cities.

Working on Kassandra i had in mind from the beginning that Cindy will take the main voc in this song. So i wrote the harmonies and the song structure with that in mind and i love how she sings the song. Kassandra also includes a few notes played with a Greek Baglamas and helps the song to get a special note. This string instrument is the small sister of a Bouzouki.

Got to work with Marc Freak @marcfreak on this one after he foolishly offered to, in a comment on a track of mine. I spent a bit of time in London in the late eighties. Boy George was king, the food was still mostly bland and there were a million different rules for dress depending on where you went. Funny how sometimes things can be so foreign and familiar at the same time. I have lots of thoughts but I won't bore you. Oh and the music. I knew most of the bands but it did change my perception a bit to hear them in context. Thanks so much Marc for the singing, melody, lyrics and maybe some context. ;)

A friend of mine jumped off of the Tobin Bridge in Boston because of the pressure his family put on him to send money back to them in his native country - They should all be crucified. Prolific musician, author, photographer and oddity.  With influences ranging from the lofi pop of Guided by Voices, the gothic melodrama of Nick Cave, the glam of Bowie and the nakedness of Iggy Pop - this is Marc Freak.  Former frontman of Freak Circus and Dead Joe.  An experiment in DIY and lofi.  The odd bum note here, the even odder bum note there.  But with art do we care?
