Vinegar Johnson’s “Blue Highways” takes the listener on a journey across the American landscape much like the book of the same title by William Least Heat Moon. Each song reflects the geographic grounding of its story, from the Midwest to the Southwest and the Northeast. Nothing is sugar coated. From the opening backwoods noir track, “Cameron Bridge”, to the teenage existential angst of the closing track, “What the Radio Played”, the stories reflect the real lived experience of life in America

The first half of the album finds its musical inspiration in the more traditional Americana sounds of Southern rock, folk, and blues roots music. The second half blends in elements of popular rock, American-Irish music, and jazz, all of which continues to expand the depth and breadth of Americana music.

Vinegar Johnson is accompanied by a stellar collection of artists including Grammy award winning Texas icon Lloyd Maines, Terri Hendrix, Robbie Malone (David Gray), Graham Hopkins (Glen Hansard, Snow Patrol), Alex Prol (Taylor Dayne), and others.

The reality of this pandemic outbreak is overwhelming..we are going to lose friends and family with this pandemic..brings me to tears thinking about it and can't believe it is happening..my uneasiness with this comes out in this piece..this is not a beautiful piece by any means  but a reflection of where I am emotionally locked in my house.  Maranatha!! and please pray for the victims and their families!!
