EL PÁJARO MINAH  /  THE MINAH BIRD

Me desperté  /  I woke up
de un sueño equivocado,  /  from a wrong dream,
tumbado entre palmeras,  /  lying among palm trees,
no estoy perdido ni encontrado.  /  I’m neither lost nor found.

Me siento bien,  /  I feel alright,
el sol me ha iluminado,  /  the sun has illuminated me,
la vida se estremece  /  life is shaking
y el egoísmo se ha agotado.  /  and selfishness is exhausted.

Pero cómo no lo pude ver?  /  But how couldn’t I see it?
No tenemos que ir ni que volver.  /  We don’t either have to go or come back.
Hay que sentirlo para creer  /  One must feel it to believe
que vivimos muy cerca del Edén.  /  that we live very near of Eden.

Una procesión de focos avanza,  /  A procession of lights goes onward,
rugir de tanques, ruido de armas.  /  tanks roar, noise of guns.
Un grito llama a la venganza  /  A shout claims for revenge
cuando un soldado dispara al Pájaro Minah.  /  when a soldier shoots the Minah Bird.

Tanques y tropas arrasan la ciudad.  /  Tanks and troops raze the city.
La estupidez humana es el arma más letal.  /  Human stupidity is the most lethal weapon.
Cien años de historia  /  A hundred years of history
en una noche ven su final.  /  in one night watch their end.

Cuando el ave cae al suelo  /  When the bird falls to the ground
y su sangre se convierte en hielo,  /  and its blood turns to ice,
y se apaga su cantar…  /  and its singing fades…
Jamás aprenderás si no quieres escuchar.  /  You’ll never learn if you don’t want to listen.

Pero cómo no lo pueden ver?  /  But how can’t they see it?

Static Disease

Prolific musician, author, photographer and oddity.  With influences ranging from the lofi pop of Guided by Voices, the gothic melodrama of Nick Cave, the glam of Bowie and the nakedness of Iggy Pop - this is Marc Freak.  Former frontman of Freak Circus and Dead Joe.  An experiment in DIY and lofi.  The odd bum note here, the even odder bum note there.  But with art do we care?
