Bass Coast Festival 2024 - Live at Slay Bay

this year i had the great pleasure of playing at @bass-c0ast , one of my favourite festivals. so much love and care is dumped into everything from the sound, to the programming, decor, and (v consent-based 🤩) vibes. it was a total honour to contribute in a musical capacity this time. 

this set was recorded live off the mixer, at 7pm at the cabin stage (thank you @djshael for facilitating). it’s not flawless and you can 1000% hear the human — i was very much operating on adrenaline, sun-baked brains, and various emotions by that point of the weekend, but i guess that’s part of the appeal of live recordings. it defo captures a moment that i’ll remember forever.

Here is the recording from our 2024 Bass Coast set at the Slow Tempo stage! Wade was unable to make it but I had such a good time crafting this set and kicking off the Saturday night at this stage. I prepped about 3 hours of material for this set so I might release a part 2 with the other half of my "slow tempo" vibe... we'll see ;)

David Hammond, known by his stage name Solis [US], is a Madison, Wisconsin-based producer specializing in deep progressive house. His sound often carries an uplifting melodic quality, shaped by his early musical journey as a bassist at age 15, later transitioning into jazz and lead guitar. Symphonic Platitudes

As far back as he can remember Marc Gerrard has been surrounded by quality music. Born in Southport, England (it’s grim up north) he comes from one of the most prolific musical countries on the planet and thus brought with him an appetite for music unique to the English. 

After his first concert experience of seeing the Jackson 5 (reunion tour) at the impressionable age of 10, he has since undergone an evolution that has taken him through britpop, indie, funk and into electronic music where now as a DJ he combines the best of all his experience and has developed a virtuosity with his ability to blend the organic with the electronic, traversing genres and taking his listeners on unpredictable yet soulful musical journeys.

His transition from alternative to electronica took place during a stint in Amsterdam where he lived for several years, witnessing a spectrum of bands in the musical cathedral known as Paradiso. There he also got his first taste of European DJ culture. Upon returning to Canada with his expanded musical repertoire, Marc Gerrard bought some decks and began to hone his craft to find his niche and sound.

After playing out around the city at various venues and festivals, Marc Gerrard met Major Tom whereby they quickly developed a kinship through their similar musical proclivities for blending the organic with the electronic. They most recently teamed up to form the DE Kollektiv where with their sound, they strive to explore the boundaries of genre and craft while pushing what defines electronic music. But through all this they always remember and maintain the core value of connecting with their audience by providing a memorable musical experience.
