well, you can look at it this way, it has this very simple repetitive tune, in the background that can easily confuse you into believing that it's simple or stupid, while in reality it's complex, hard to understand. It symbolizes certain people I've known, and this was the only word i could find to describe them..confusionsts. Just like an illusionist creates an illusion, the confusionist -in my dictionary at least -is someone who creates confusion.

Inspired by acoustic instrumental and vocal music from all over the world, especially North India, North Africa, Middle-Eastern, Eastern European and Celtic music, musical lineages from many sources find  new life in “living world music” songs and percussion compositions by singer and percussionist Marco Zonka.   

Accompanist and soloist on tabla, bendir, tar, udu, conga, djembe, and other “finger-style” drums, Zonka is a supporting vocalist and percussionist for singers and instrumentalists in many genre, including Hindustani, Celtic, Kirtan, Eastern European, Bulgarian, Early and Medieval music. 
As a contemporary percussionist and singer-songwriter, Zonka presents “living world music” events with world music performance ensembles, with an emphasis on music that inspires movement. 
As a soloist Zonka ranges from minimalistic acoustic “voice and drum” performance; esthetic or shamanic & ceremonial; to “techno-world” mix-meister using world  “Loop-J” miasma, synthesizer sound-beds & fat sonic-pads, with “live” and prerecord “loops” over beds of digital drum and bass.

Zonka studied with many great living exponents of classical Indian music and drumming, including maestros Ali Akbar Khan, Allah Rakha, Zakir Hussain, and Swapan Chauduri, has toured with sitarists Shivnath Mishra & son Deobrat, and other contemporary and traditional world music artists including Babu Kishan Das, Ashana Lobody, Snatam Kaur, Gina Sala, Jaya Lakshmi, Shanti Shivani, Fariba Heyraneh, Lakshmi Devi, and others.

Zonka facilitates drum and music groups learning a simple yet universal spoken “vocabulary of rhythm and music” using words, beats, clapping, songs, and body-movements called “tongues & tala”
Based on the “tala” and “sargam” traditions in North India, or as “konnakol” and “solkattu” traditions in Southern India, Tongues & tala synthesizes the essential elements of both these “vocalese” and “spoken-word” based rhythm and music traditions, in a format more readily accessible and by western musicians.
