Uruguayan born, London based, Sofi’s passion and curiosity for music has led her to dig a wide range of sounds that span different times and spaces. She is always discovering rare and soulful sounds to share with the world, previously showcased on her monthly 'Spectrums' show on Worldwide FM.

Sofi plays the Secretsundaze Residential party on 11th March 2023 at Corsica Studios, going b2b with Norsicaa, and our other incredible new resident Macca will be going b2b with Sofie K. Meanwhile our own James Secretsundaze plays a 7 hour set in Room 1.

In this re-run from 2020, the late DJ and radio host reflects on memories from BBC Radio 1, disrupting the patriarchy and the keys to success in broadcasting.

Annie Nightingale, who died last week at the age of 83, was the first women radio presenter on BBC Radio 1-and the longest serving broadcaster in the station's history. She became known for championing new, underground music and led the movement for women to become DJs and broadcasters, becoming a necessarily disruptive force across radio and live music. 

Fans of Nightingale's knew her as the Queen of Breaks, given her strong affinity for the sound. But she also introduced listeners to prog rock, punk, indie and dance music, and was unfeignedly passionate about them all. While she had no technical know-how when she started at the BBC, that didn't stop her. Despite her parents' request to "have something to fall back on," she dove head first into broadcasting, establishing herself quickly and even braving listeners' expectations by booking acts who weren't considered trendy or mainstream at the time. 

In this archival conversation with Martha Pazienti Caidan—who worked closely with Nightingale at BBC Radio 1—she discusses her memories and encounters in the music industry: being sworn at by Johnny Rotten; touring with Underworld; discovering her love for drill and grime; and the keys to success for aspiring broadcasters. With more Discogs pages than the EU has legislation, Passarani has released, to name a few, fine twelves on Gerd Jansons Running Back label, crafted covers of Alexander O’Neal and The Jungle Brothers for Peacefrog, re-invigorated Boogie and Italo as Tiger & Woods and could possibly be the only producer to have been remixed by both Ricardo Villalobos and Autechre. 
He has played a pivotal yet covert role forwarding electronic music in Europe and beyond  - strengthening the ties between Rome (his hometown), Glasgow, Detroit and Rotterdam with his Final Frontier / Nature / Pigna stable of labels and to this day he continues to be an inspiration and educator for the younger generation.
After his latest solo adventures on Jackmaster’s related Numbers label and Fort Romeau’s Cin Cin, his restless journey continues with an album that came out in early 2019 on the highly revered Vladimir Ivkovic’s Offen Music: Marco’s first solo album in more than 10 years called “WOW”!
