The 11th entry into the Heat Rock catalog includes a pair of funky, breakbeat-heavy, Native Tongues family remixes. The A-side features a horn-laden remix from Trew (Altered Tapes / Chicago) that simultaneously flips a Funk and Hip-Hop classic. While on the B-side, Double A (Montreal) takes a Digger's favorite and turns up the drumbreak dial to 15 for a Boombapped version of a Bay Area Funk/Rock deep cut. Doubles are recommended!

The artwork for this series was designed by talented Mike2600 of BRLSQ, and inspired by vintage 7inch factory sleeve designs. The limited edition 45s include custom cover art and colored vinyl. (A black wax version with a different label color scheme will be available mid-August).

Milan-based producer Fred Simon brings you two delicious slices of modern funk in collaboration with two of the most heralded vocalists in the scene. MoFunk Records artist Moniquea lends her voice to "Don't Go Under" while Amalia, known for her releases on Tokyo Dawn & Cherries Records, gets down on "Island Of Magic." In hearing both tracks, you can discern the formula - Clever chord progressions with a jazzy flair that come across as something of a nod to neosoul, combined with the rhythm of 1980's boogie funk, thus interpreted with analog synths and drum machines in place of a live band. You can hear the remarkable range that the style carries; on "Don't Go Under," the pace is on the urgent side, with Moniquea switching effortlessly between singing and rapping, advising you to push forward no matter what. "Island Of Magic" takes the same sound, puts a citrus-colored cocktail into your hand and sets you down on a palm-lined beach at sunset. Amalia takes the emotion of love and presents it as a physical location. In much the same way, we are bringing these two amazing tracks to physical form with a limited 7", on bone-colored vinyl, only 150 pieces pressed!

Deep in the city of Porto Portugal, lives the groove floating dialogue of a modern funk artist known as SAIR. “Everywhere” is a brassy, catchy new banger from Sonny Seeza, the Brooklyn hardcore Hip-Hop kingpin who is one of the original members of Onyx (formerly known as both Suavé and Sonsee). Since striking out on his own in 2009 with 'Tytanium,' he’s been working on a follow-up LP, 'Bridges,' that’s set to drop February 26th.

That leaves us with plenty of time to keep “Everywhere” on full blast. Amid clever lyrical turns from Seeza, the track escalates into a pure slapper thanks to Switzerland’s, DJ Def Cut.

With the horns sounding off behind him, Seeza’s bars are especially potent during the second verse. It’s brimming with questions aimed at listeners of all kinds, from those with gigantic egos (so big they can’t fit through a door), to those who may prefer one genre or another. And it all blends perfectly into the hook, which absolutely deserves to be heard in a live setting.
