Dubbed the ladies’ choice for 2012 [Old school heads will remember Fabio’s infamous nickname...] by Metalheadz own label manager, Lenzman’s reputation for pulling a crowd of girls at each and every event precedes his every musical endeavour.

Unsurprisingly the music matches up, but this isn’t just drum & bass for girls. Instead this is cleverly put together D&B on the lighter side of life. If you’re a fan of gradual musical 
progression and a great ear for melody and harmony then you’re already a fan of Lenzman.
This latest release is the Dutch producer’s second for Metalheadz this year, following the widely-acclaimed ‘Masquerade’. This 12” picks up exactly where that single left off in terms of quality, but brings a pair of deeper, more subtle moods that manage to skilfully combine the rough with the smooth, and the light with the dark.

‘Lasers’ is an intoxicating slice of eyes-down drum & bass that’s tough as nails, yet also gentle and dreamlike thanks to its drifting bassline, heavily reverbed vocals and delayed FX. Employing snarling bass licks and swells to develop an ominous tone as it builds, ‘Lasers’ is a worthy addition to the Metalheadz discography.

‘Broken Dreams’ is a truly stunning piece of sonic craft, decorating widescreen pads with sublime soul vocal samples, a collapsing bassline lead and beautiful synths. As the track moves forward, its cinematic qualities deepen as all these elements grow and interact, driven onwards by its backbone of solid drums and bass.

Marcus Intalex's favourite new artist of recent times, Phil Tan- gent, returns to Soul:R this month with his second single "Squar- ing the Circle" and "Restitution. His debut, "Billie's Smile / Lunar ", proved a discerning and unique musicality to Tangent's sound and demonstrated a level of musical depth, which is comfortably at home in the Soul:r camp. SOULR59 will solidify the deserved recognition for Phil Tangent's sound.

Congo Natty aka Rebel MC has a career dating back to his early hit with Double Trouble, "Street Tuff," but is probably most respected as one of the pioneers of Jungle - perhaps the first uniquely UK-born bass music. 

"Jungle Revolution" features the whole of the extended Congo Natty family and was mixed with Adrian Sherwood. Clearly showing this Rasta's belief that Jungle is a re-boot of roots reggae for a new century, the record is full of blood and fire, the sternum-buzz of sub-bass, rapid fire drum breaks, sweet hooks, righteous anger and professions of religious fervour. It’s the kind of passionate, committed, raw and spiritual, beautiful record that doesn’t come along every day.  

To celebrate this release, we are streaming the track "UK Allstars," which features a who's who of British soundsystem culture. This is the first time ever that this line up have all appeared on one track together and so also marks a historic coming together of a scene which lies at the roots of so much of what we now take for granted in UK music, from dubstep to grime to drum & bass and beyond.
