When we released Thor's “Yellow Sky Over Reykjavík” on the first part of our “Icelandic Lost Tracks” series in 2010, we were proud beyond words to discover such an outstanding and still unreleased track from one of our heroes from the 90ies. 

We called the original a dancefloor-resetter, an expression which was also used more than onceby reviewers and press-people when writing about the release. 

When we decided to do the Iconography series with its wonderful artwork, split in four parts and illustrated by Julia Humpfer, we knew we had to use this bomb for it, but also that we have to choose the remixers wisely. 

After making the right choice with Tuff City Kids and Lake People as remixers for Chymera's classic “Caprica Burning”, the first part of our Iconography Series, we apparently also had the right instinct with Prins Thomas and Baikal for Thor's “Yellow Sky Over Reykjavík”. Both interpreted the tune in a very personal way, but with full respect for the original parts. Two directions, two anthems. Nuff said!

Alex Barck is known for participating at as many parties as possible simultanously. Now he invites for the very first time in his career to his own and personal bash. To the island La Reunion in the Indian Ocean to be exact. That’s where he settled with his entire family for a whole year since last summer to complete his probably most ambitious work ever: His debut solo album. The fist guest to be received is Pete Josef from Bristol (one half of The White Lamp), who wrote the lyrics for “Re-Set” and lends his voice to it naturally. A voice that suits perfectly Barcks twisted but always highly accessible productions. As a DJ who lives for the dancefloor Barck comes up with a track that make your legs shake and - in the second part - your hands raise. To assign the talents of newcomer Hannes Fischer to do a remix is a clever move. The latest wunderkind of the Berlin techno/house scene has an impressive sensitiveness for nuances like only very few have nowadays. In his rework he squeezes the essence out of “Re- Set” and fills it rich in content into a flacon that spreads somehow the odor of lavender. Until the release of the album “Reunion” there will be further three 12″ coming out of the holiday residence Barck. Stay tuned! In the meantime there still will be DJing in selected locations, work for the project Prommer & Barck (a second album is in the making), A&R managing for Sonar Kollektiv and of course active support of Jazzanova.

Ever since appearing in Steve Angello’s set at the landmark Size In The Park event in New York last September, ‘Hit It!’ has been the subject of much anticipation amongst fans and although it might only be January, is undoubtedly set to be one of the biggest tracks of the year. Each bringing their sizeable talents to the table, the results of this three-way collaboration are explosive; refusing to be pigeonholed, the track twists and turns throughout its duration, brimming with insistent rhythms, pulsing bass and incisive melodies which are precision-tooled to cause chaos whenever and wherever it is dropped. 

GTA, Henrix and Digital LAB are all tipped for big things this year and ‘Hit It’ is an exceptional start. Showcasing a dynamic fusion of their individual styles, it is imbued with an undeniable electricity that has quickly become an absolute must have with the Size fan base, who’ve been anticipating its release since its very first drop.

D.Fine is from Bordeaux in southern France and he is part of a new breed of French producers that doesn’t seem too concerned with the classic sounding French house scene from the 90’s but instead takes cues and inspirations from other parts of the world such as the UK dance music scene and Detroit techno.

We at Discobelle Records are proud to present his EP ”Fall”.

The EP kicks off with the title track in which an infectious vocal sample rides a playful headbobbing 808 beat interspersed with subtle hi-hats and handclaps. 

The second track ”I Don’t” swerves towards a bit of darker ride, the beat is crunchier while the diamondsharp and spaced out synths glimmer well into the night.

The final track ”Silly Eyes” gives us more of a classic sounding, housier affair in which an urging female vocal sample amidst a steadfast beat and a deep bass takes us towards the dancefloor.
