Following a few weeks of heads-down business in our mixtape series we bring you a ray of sunshine by the name of Al Dobson Jr. We were first introduced to his global sounds via the 'Japan Project' beat tape, released on One-Handed Music alongside fellow South Londoner Creole last year. However, it was a few months later with the debut 22a white label  that AD Jr really stopped us in our path. His 4 track contribution to the split 12" literally oozes lo-fi Soul; his instrumental sketches effortlessly touch on Jazz, Broken Beat, Hip-Hop and African rhythms, with a flowing undercurrent of warmth running throughout. It was well worth noting that he has a whole group of musical friends you should keep an eye on this year; people like Reginald Omas Mammode IV and Jeen Bassa (younger brothers of Mo Kolours), Henry Wu and Tenderlonious are a crew of djs, producers, musicians and label heads that are destined for a higher place.

After catching Al Dobson Jr play a white-hot set at the comm•une club night at Dance Tunnel in London recently, and hearing the news on his debut album for Bradley Zero's party-cum-label Rhythm Section (forthcoming this Summer), it felt like a prime time to give the man a shout. His Hyp Mix is typically varied and consists of old and new music currently in his record bag, new test presses and some of his people's CDs...

If Marie is not in the DJ booth spinning records, you most likely find her on the floor. Though highly respected by her fellow jockeys for her mixing style and impeccable skill at that, she's a fan first and a club kid at heart - which seems to be a major reason for her ability to immediately connect with different kinds of crowds in various settings. As a DJ, Marie is known for her dynamic and engaging sets, which seamlessly blend together different styles of house music. Her performances have taken her to some of the most prestigious festivals, including FUSION, GARBICZ or NACHTIVILLE and Clubs like Frankfurt's ROBERT JOHNSON, Hamburg's PUDEL or Berlin's HEIDEGLÜHEN, to name just a few.

"Sounds Like" first aired on THF Radio over five years ago. To celebrate more than 70 episodes, we put together a very special show and bar night at Torhaus with nine DJs, most of whom had previously appeared on sounds like, playing eight hours of music.

Alex Kolla is a long time friend of the show and invited for the third time. bb:fm aka Linda is host of sounds like. So, both know exactly what the show is about. They picked the color inspiration #6f3250. Best described as "berry-colored" it makes for a juicy deep selection of tracks across genres and BPM ranges.
