We always loved Thelma Houston's cover, but DJs often play the punchier Harold Melvin & the blue notes version instead, so we tried to give it our little touch to change that.

I´ve always been the black sheep in a football loving family.But....in the last couple of years I couldn´t escape from my history anymore.
I confess: I´m looking forward to the start of the COPA DO MUNDO 2014 in a few weeks...yes, I do :) . 
This mixtape here is my personal soundtrack to it that I wanna share with you.
On the cover of it  you can see the  brother of my Uncle, Helmut Haller who was voted with  Brazil´s  Pele "world´s best football player 1967".The first brazilian music that I heared in my life was some Tamba Trio tunes on one his birthday parties in the late 70´s ...and since than the sound of Brazil got me.
You´ll get some classics and rarities, mostly late 70´s samba rock & disco boogie influenced tunes .strictly vinyl, so excuse some crackles. aahh...and I smuggled two brandnew 7 Samurai remixes in....LUCAS ARRUDA sambadi ( 7 Samurai rmx) ,out now on the favourite recordings comp " DISCO REGGAE II) and the other for Munich´s finest latin soul outfit THE HI FLY ORCHESTRA feat PAULA ROSENBAUM : sambinha (7 Samurai rmx) ,out soon on  A GoGo records.

This October I fulfilled a boy hood dream, when I visited Ipanema Beach before my show in Rio De Janeiro. As I expected the beach was full with beautiful people, beach football& & music everywhere. I took this photo just shortly after several hours digging in the capital for records. This mix is a collection of finds from both Sao Paulo and Rio, there is records for days! ‘Nana’ is the fourth Simonal track to appear in the Brazil 45’s series. Lush, horn and string laden MPB-samba-jazz, taken from his ‘A Nova Dimensao do Samba’ LP released by Odeon in 1964.

Nana was released on 7” in the same year, also by Odeon.


Osmar Milito - Rita Jeep

The Jorge Ben penned Rita Jeep is Osmar Milito’s second song in the Brazil 45’s series, taken from his ‘E deixa o relógio andar’ LP from 1971 on Som Livre.

Osmar worked with many artist over the years including Nara Leão, Maria Bethania, Vinicius de Morais, Gilberto Gil, Jorge Ben, Elis Regina, Chico Buarque, Sergio Mendes, Liza Minelli, Mark Murphy, Spanky Wilson and Sammy Davis Jr.

Having been one of his biggest festival tunes in the summer of 2014, the Luxxury mix of Greg Wilson’s 'Summer Came My Way' - which originally surfaced on last year’s 'Schooled In The Classics' 12” - was put on the back burner throughout the winter in readiness for a full 2015 release. Juxtaposed by Walter Ego’s equally sublime take on the track, the release marks the first of eight records to be issued over the summer months.

Sometimes composition is a long and arduous process, other times a song arrives fully formed. The latter was the case for Greg when he imagined 'Summer Came My Way' as a vehicle for hitherto unknown vocal forces of nature, The Reynolds - twins Katherine and the song’s lead singer Carmel - who, by beautiful serendipity happened to live within a mile of Greg’s Merseyside home.

Bursting out of LA with a lavish twelve-part re-edit series last year, Luxxury’s brand of hazy, slo-mo reworks - a West Coast Balaeric fusion - has catapulted him onto the world stage. Opening his mammoth eight- hour Berghain set in 2013 with Luxxury’s 'Hotel California' rework, Greg helped bring his Los Angeles vibes to wider attention, bolstered by his subsequent support of other reworks; 'Night Fever' and 'Riders On The Storm'.

A victim of his own success, 'Hotel California' gained Luxxury a little too much notoriety and, after a Wall Street Journal interview began circulating, Warner came down on him like a ton of bricks on finding out he’d used The Eagles’ multitracks. All was resolved however and he’s currently recording his forthcoming album, with great things expected for 2015 and beyond. The Luxxury approach perfectly fitted Greg’s vision of the song and the result is a glorious nine-minute epic, just in time for the summer.

With releases on the legendary Ninja Tune, San Francisco’s murky Symbols and Kerri Chandler’s jackin’ MadTech, Walter Ego’s appeal stretches across the board; from forward thinking house to rough and ready grime. Having got to know the Sheffield musician during recent years, Greg was impressed by what he heard, especially an as yet unreleased project he was working on in collaboration with London singer, Obenewa. Inviting him to remix the track, Walter returned an ethereal yet mechanical take on 'Summer Came My Way', his delicately decaying synths and cold hydraulic rhythm giving the track a brooding quality and placing The Reynolds in an entirely new context.

A fresh imprint, run by Nachtbraker and KiSk, with four releases in the pipeline, featuring four different artists and commissioned storyboard comics on the sleeve. To see how the story unravels, you’ll need to catch them all...

The Good Guys take care of the A side, while the Bad Guys take things over on the flip. An epic clash of brutal force and rivalry is inevitable. Things take off with an undecided arm wrestling match in Groiler’s pub. Boiling. There is only one way to blow off steam. Lets enter the ring!

For the first missive, The Good Guys will be represented by pianowizard Crackazat (Local Talk, Futureboogie) bringing the optimistic vibes we need to start this fight, while Saine (Sleazy Beats) - the king of subtle moods – provides that voice of reason to keep both our feet on the ground. The Bad Guys enlisted the services of groove maestro Nachtbraker (Dirt Crew, Heist Recordings) to help out with the detailed footwork and master of multiple galaxies Gnork (Blorp, Blind Jacks Journey) steps up to the plate with unmatched stamina to roughen things up.

Let the fight begin.. DING DING!

Brazilian mid tempo boogie double header. We’ve been playing these two out for the last couple of years and they are firm favourites.

‘E Novamente Mas Que Nada’ is the opening track from Reseda’s 1979 album on Som Livre. An ultra catchy vocal hook, boogie guitars and synths lead into a piano and cuica breakdown and horns to finish. One of the finest in the genre in our opinion.

‘Ginga’ is taken from Robson Jorge & Lincoln Olivetti’s self-titled masterpiece, reissued on Mr Bongo. Arguably the most immediate and club friendly track from the album, it always turns heads. Another premium example of Brazilian boogie from the masters of the sound and producers for the likes of Rita Lee, Erasmo Carlos, Don Beto, Marcos Valle, Tim Maia, Gilberto Gil, Gal Costa, Sandra Sa, Painel de Controle and many more.
