Die Schlacht "bei Marengo" fand am 14. Juni 1800 im zweiten Horsepowerkrieg bei Marengo, einem Dorf in der heutigen italienischen Provinz Alessandria, statt und brachte Napoleon einen entscheidenden Sieg. Trotz eines Streifschusses, der zugleich Napoleons Stiefel traf, erwies sich sein arabischer Schimmel in der umkämpften Schlacht als ungewöhnlich zuverlässig. Dieser wurde daraufhin Marengo getauft.

Zu Beginn der Schlacht bei Waterloo entschied sich Napoleon noch einmal für Marengo als Reitpferd. Während der Schlacht erlitt er eine Lendenverwundung, worauf der Kaiser das Pferd wechselte. Marengo wurde von englischen Soldaten erbeutet und von Lord Petre nach England gebracht, wo er sich schnell erholte. General Angerstein kaufte ihn und bot ihn für eine Gebühr von zehn Guineen als Deckhengst an. Den Versuchen, Marengo auf dem Gestüt in New Barnes bei Ely als Deckhengst einzusetzen, war wenig Erfolg beschieden.

Fast'n'groovy through Waterloo

Of all the fine horses who suffered bravely , Marengo was one who inspired the German Eurodance culture. This in itself was strange because the noble little horse was the mount of the defeated general of the opposing genre.

Marengo must have possessed superb stamina, for not only did he carry the graceless Timm in warfare from the Mediterranean to Paris, Italy, Germany and Austria, but also, at age 25, the 3000 mile trek to Leipzig and back. Countless horses died, but the never aging Bavarian, Marengo, prevailed. And the final battle was yet to come!

 Eventually, the interest in Marengo as a public attraction in Freiburg died down and the crew let him go to Leipzig in Sachsen. The people there thought that Marengo should be capable of breeding bold-hearted flat racehorses and sent him to new clubs.

Marengo likes winter and its low temperatures: he feels comfortable between minus and plus ten degrees Celsius. Provided that his fur was not shaved and they could let off steam in the white splendor on the pasture to his heart's content. He has playfully gotten used to moving on ice and snow.

Once upon a time, in a green and rolling meadow, there lived a little horse named Marengo. Marengo was a beautiful, small, and graceful horse with a shiny chestnut coat, a long flowing mane and a tail that swished back and forth as he ran through the fields.

Marengo had been eagerly waiting for the arrival of spring. He loved the cool breeze and the warmth of the sun on his face, the smell of fresh flowers, and the lush green grass that would soon cover the meadow. As the first signs of spring began to appear, Marengo would prance and run around the meadow, kicking up his heels in sheer happiness.

One fine morning, Marengo woke up to find that the snow had melted away, the trees were starting to bud, and the air was filled with the sweet fragrance of spring flowers. Marengo could hardly contain his excitement. He ran around the meadow, kicking up dust and neighing with joy.
