Yokha is a journey into the depths of the jungle, an invitation to a secret ritual. A spiritual union of energies between two souls connected through artistic creation. Conceived by Cyma and Janax Pacha, two sound artisans from South America who on this occasion immerse us in the rhythms of dances and melodic textures that, suspended like lianas, they dialogue harmoniously between the heat of the fire and the mysterious gazes of the jungle.

As one of the stellar releases of Cosmovision Records this year, a collaboration full of magic and colors. All this accompanied by 3 stars of folktronica and downtempo music such as Rodrigo Gallardo, Uji and our house artist Hajna, forming an EP full of life and nature elements that shine on its own.

Bliss

"2/1 (Night Flight Mix)"

A cover version of Brian Eno's "2/1" from Ambient 1: Music for Airports.

This originally appeared on the compilation "Minimalism" on UK label Law &  Auder in 1998. It was recorded shortly after finishing the album "Shringara". I had been reading Erich Tamm's wonderful book on Brian Eno, and he gave a fairly detailed analysis of how Eno put together the Music for Airports album. I thought the best way to understand how that music was made was to try it, so this track was an experiment in seeing how close I could get to Eno's sound. (With a few typically Makyo-esque elements thrown in.) Instead of tape loops, we used a sampler with sequencer loops of varying lengths triggering the samples. The experiment would later be developed on "Swara Mandala" in the similarly Eno-ish track "Skin as Soft as Starlight". With love to Prof. Eno.

"I listened to Naynaeo, in the river where I lived in the peruvian jungle in Iquitos for 2 years, as an offering to that eternal time, to the unity of all the worlds in one, being present. Andre Lehner later accompanied me during the recording in Austria by playing the shamanic drum, and so together with my sansula and my voice we recreated that memory of the future."

Vibrating in tune, listening, breathing, deeply rooted, reconnecting with our essence, listening to nature, from the silence, we are one with Her and from this listening we can receive her messages, the melodies and vibration that she transmits to us. 

“Essência” is a magical journey through the (sound) landscapes of Peru, Colombia, Chile, Guatemala, Austria and Portugal. Sounds of pure nature recorded in different places of the earth. In those sanctuaries, from my inner silence, an empty space is created within me to receive and give birth. Being at service to the essence and translating it into music. Serving as an instrument I transmit through my voice, my words, and the different instruments that I play. Being connected with everything, disappearing, like a bridge joining the bodies of sound and silence.”

Maywa - 03 Naynaeo

Yiri Ba is traditionally a Mandengue song from Burkina Faso which laments the falling of a big tree. A metaphor for death of an elder.

In West African culture, the elders carry a lot of knowledge and ancient traditions of the land and the people therefore when a big tree falls, it is like the library building burning down. All the knowledge and history disappears.
