"Instantes" (Instants) seeks to be a collection of moments of introspection. Perception of the body, of the world, of time. "Listen to me with your whole body," Clarice asks. 

Clarice Lispector's text, taken from "Água Viva" (adapted), is read by Tiago Boto, Nuno Veiga, Juliana Campos, Sara Marita and also by myself. The sound material that gives life to the piece comes mostly from these voices, and all the narrative constructed has the purpose of serving absolutely the text, either in episodes where the word itself is sound, or in episodes where the sound serves the word in an almost madrigalesque way.

This piece is also the result of a range of influences from several composers who inspire my work. Particularly Annette Vande Gorne, in the way she composes voice and text, and her research on space as a musical expressive parameter in acousmatic music; Jaime Reis, in his search for polyphony of gestures and spatial movements; Elizabeth Anderson whose complex textures of the pieces "Les Forges de l'Invisible", "Solar Winds" and "...and Beyond" appear in my piece as a support to Lispector's narrative. And also Luciano Berio, who in "Visage" gives us the voice with a true musicality.

Beige is the true color of melancholy is a multi-channel installation presented on Re.Sound a two day event in Huddersfield, UK on May 2018. The piece points out to the importance of the culinary culture in the establishment of immigrant cultures in Northern England over the past two centuries. The piece was produced with sounds recorded in the kitchen of Thai traditional cook Lag in Huddersfield, interviews made to second generation immigrants, and archive material that presents the role of cooking in the discrimination suffered by some immigrants that moved to West Yorkshire and Greater Manchester in the 1950s and 60s.

Mariana Vieira (Portugal, 1997) is a composer based in Lisbon.
She studied Music Composition at the Lisbon College of Music (ESML) with composers Carlos Caires and Jaime Reis. She is currently pursuing her Master in Composition & Pedagogy in the same institution. 
Her work includes electroacoustic and instrumental music in solo, chamber, ensemble and orchestral settings, as well as collaborative multimedia pieces. 
Besides her artistic output, she is interested in developing artistic and pedagogical projects, a work that she carries out by being the production director of Festival DME and an active collaborator at Lisboa Incomum, an independent concert and artist residency venue in Lisbon. 
Her music was performed in festivals such as Young Euro Classic (Germany), L’Espace du Son (Belgium), Audio Art (Poland), Electroacoustic Music Days (Greece) Crossroads (Austria), Monaco Electroacoustique (Monaco), Aveiro_Síntese and Música Viva (Portugal). 
In 2017, her piece “Raiz”, written for the Portuguese Youth Orchestra (JOP) won the European Composer Award. 
Since 2021, she is also an Assistant Professor at Escola Superior de Artes Aplicadas (Castelo Branco, Portugal).

Mariana Vieira (Sintra, 1997) estudou Composição na Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa com os professores Carlos Caires e Jaime Reis. Frequenta, actualmente, o Mestrado em Ensino de Música na mesma instituição. 
O seu catálogo inclui música acusmática, mista e instrumental a solo, camerística e orquestral, bem como peças colaborativas interdisciplinares.
A sua música foi apresentada em festivais como Young Euro Classic (Alemanha), L'Espace du Son (Bélgica), Audio Art (Polónia), Electroacoustic Music Days (Grécia) Crossroads (Áustria), Monaco Electroacoustique (Mónaco), Aveiro_Síntese e Música Viva (Portugal). 
Além da sua produção composicional, interessa-se por desenvolver projectos artísticos e pedagógicos que combinem música e tecnologia, atividade que concretiza enquanto diretora de produção do Festival DME, colaboradora ativa no espaço Lisboa Incomum e membro da associação EMSCAN.
Em 2017, a sua peça "Raiz", escrita para a Jovem Orquestra Portuguesa (JOP), venceu o European Composer Award.
Desde 2021, é também Professora Assistente na Escola Superior de Artes Aplicadas (Castelo Branco, Portugal).
