Ghost —the soundtrack of a love story between a phantom and a living man— is a carefully-crafted project that invites the listener to submerge into Casalis’ newly discovered musical universe: a raw, melancholic experience inspired by his love for piano and adorned with a variety of cinematic layers and textures.

This EP will be available on the 30th of April on digital format and limited edition CD, featuring his own photographs, carefully designed by Celia Fernández González.

Based in Paris, Adrien Casalis is a French composer for film, contemporary dance, and advertising. In 2017, he wrote the soundtrack for First Love, series directed by Anthony Jorge and Jonathan Cohen, and a couple of years later, he worked closely with fashion company Givenchy on several commercials. During these years, he also composed contemporary dance pieces for various choreographers all around the world. In addition, he is the person behind VIMALA, an electronic music project encompassing song-writing, experimentation, and elements from dance music.

Gjendines bådnlåt is a traditional lullaby which can be traced back to Kaia Gjendine Slålien (1870-1971), a milkmaid from the Jotunheimen area. Well known for her repertoire of songs, she met Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg (1843-1907) on several occasions. Many of her ballads and lullabies formed the basis for his 1896 collection of “19 Norwegian Folk Songs – Op.66” which he arranged for the piano. Gjendines bådnlåt is the last piece in the collection. My version of the lullaby is mixing up various versions of the lullaby.

Dance Of Avoidance - by Stacy Fahrion

My recent phase of recording real piano improvisations, continues with this piece entitled "Shadows". You may not believe me, but I literally sit down at the piano & let my fingers fall to a position on the keys. From there, I just start noodling around. Often, the first thing that happens, is the central part of the tune to come. I can't explain how this happens, but it is a real "rush" of an experience. Some musicians take drugs, smoke, drink or fornicate, but I chase this "natural high" of improvising as often as I can. Enjoy!
